We are learning a LOT about the new Disney Genie service coming soon to Disney World and Disneyland.
The new service will be built into the My Disney Experience and Disneyland apps and will feature a LOT of new tools for Disney guests. We’re talking forecasted future wait times, a virtual assistant, a personalized itinerary, and more! So, how is it that Disney Genie is going to act as your personal assistant?
One of the biggest features of the FREE Disney Genie service is a personalized itinerary and tip board feature. This feature will help you to seamlessly map out your entire day. To put it as Disney did, “You have all the fun, while Disney Genie does all the work.”
To use the service, you’ll tell Disney Genie about your preferences, whether that be princesses, superheroes, thrill rides, food, or anything else. These interests can be as specific as a must-do attraction or as broad as your interest in Star Wars. Then, Disney Genie uses that information to evaluate thousands of options and build a plan just for YOUR family.
And that plan isn’t set in stone! Disney Genie will continue to update your plan throughout the day to roll with all of the changes happening in the parks. The goal is to create a better, more customized experience for guests.
This itinerary will pair with a personalized tip board that brings you all sorts of info. It will display current AND future wait times, as well as information about virtual queues, dining, mobile order, and more.
For an example of how you’ll use this service, your itinerary will tell you where to start your park day, take into account those forecasted wait times to tell you when you should head to your must-dos, suggest a convenient place and time to mobile order lunch, and update you with realtime suggestions (even the weather forecast!).
If at any point you’re confused about why Disney Genie recommends something, you can easily take a look at why it thinks the plans are a good fit for you!
Yep, you’re getting a full-day itinerary and a tip board built right into your smartphone that keeps you in the loop on attractions status, showtimes, dining availability, and standby wait times — plus it tells you where you should head next!
In a statement about the new system, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro noted, “Disney Genie listens to the preferences that guests share with us to help design their best day and deliver an experience that’s made just for them. Pairing incredible technology with more than 60 years of expertise about how our guests visit the parks, Disney Genie will personalize their Disney day, allowing guests to spend less time planning and waiting and more time doing the things they love.”

All these changes stresses me out. We are booked for June 2022 and have booked a Disney hotel as in previous years done so for the ease and perks provided. The removal of the dining plan magic bands and now fast passes has devastated the whole family. I am not techno savvy and can’t use a mobile app very well. In past years my daughter planned everything in advance for me including dining fast pass etc… really don’t know how I will cope navigating my day now….the thing I enjoyed most was not having to worry about money as everything was paid for upfront at the time of booking ( which is the maximum we can afford) but now we will have to loose our deposit and cancel or somehow try to find extra money to eat and ride the rides we would like without massive queues ( I am unable to stand for long periods of time)….so sad and unhappy with Disney.😢

Disney is making you use your phone more and more it is good for the young people that are going to the parks . For the older people it sounds not like a vacation but work . I guess everything on your phone can be easy if you understand it . It just doesn’t make me more to go to the park but less. For people that are on there phones all the time I guess it is not a big deal .

Arlene, Disney’s announcement yesterday indicates that DAS functions will be added to Disney Genie. They say it will allow DAS users to enroll before arriving at Disney World and will allow DAS users to select the attractions they want to use the Service for in Disney Genie (I assume this is as opposed to having to go check in at the attraction for DAS, then return for the ride at a later time). Disney did specifically say the DAS functions would be in addition to the current DAS system, so if you prefer the current method, you could stick with it.

I’m a little stressed about not being able to book rides in advance! I loved that we could plan our our whole day. I’m also worried with only booking 1 at a time how many we will truly be able to get in a day. Also what about those of us that are annual pass or dvc? Do we not get any perks now? And those that stay on property versus off. I feel like this is a total downgrade. I hope there is more to come on this.

We have been going to Disney World for 48 years. Our family has grown to 10 people. We have mainly stayed in the Contemporary Resort, and booked up to four rooms. Plans for the whole family were made months in advance making it possible for everyone to do what they enjoy most. We are saying goodbye to Disney World with heavy hearts. There is no way we could comfortably plan these trips one day at a time! We have usually spent about $20,000 on these yearly trips. Now greed on Disney’s part has made it an impossible trip for our family. We will remember the good times and try to forget what Disney has become.
