Spirit Airlines is one of the most popular airlines in Orlando, bringing 3.39 million passengers last year to the Orlando International Airport, according to the Orlando Business Journal.
Spirit has experienced labor shortages and severe storms recently, which has resulted in a lot of canceled flights. Sources say that these cancellations may be far from over.
The Orlando Business Journal stated that canceled flights cost Spirit Airlines about $50 million over the last couple of months as the company struggles to re-hire workers. Even though they furloughed fewer workers than initially expected, Spirit has not been able to re-hire as many workers as they need.
According to their third-quarter report, Spirit “expects these adverse effects to persist throughout the third quarter.” This means that we’ll likely see canceled flights continue over the next couple of months between August and September. Spirit hasn’t specified which flights will be canceled in the coming months.
If you’re flying into Orlando International Airport, keep an eye on your flight and notifications to make sure it’s still set to take off.
