If you’re heading to Disney World this next week, you’ll want to keep an eye on construction and updates going on around the parks.
We’re here to let you know what’s scheduled to be closed for refurbishment in the parks and Disney World hotels!
This summer, we’ve seen updates happening at rides around Magic Kingdom, and it’s still the only park with any scheduled closures this next week. Let’s take a look at what you can expect to be closed here.
Magic Kingdom
In the Magic Kingdom, the Walt Disney World Railroad is still closed, including all the stations around the park.
Construction on TRON: Lightcycle Run has interrupted the train tracks in Tomorrowland, so we’re not expecting the railroad to reopen until that construction is finished. But the good news is that the Main Street Train Station is finished with its updates and looking better than ever!
We saw construction tarps around the station for a while, but they’re all gone now, and we’re lovin’ this view. Past the station, on Main Street, U.S.A., there’s a bit more construction going on. The Main Street Confectionery is still closed for refurbishment.
There are updates coming to the interior of this candy shop, and it’s scheduled to be closed at least through mid-October, according to Disney’s refurbishment calendar.
There’s one more attraction in the Magic Kingdom that’s going to be unavailable this coming week: the Liberty Square Riverboat.
The Riverboat is only scheduled to be closed through August 31st of this year, so it’s likely routine maintenance and cleaning for the boat. At least, we’re hoping the Rivers of America isn’t completely drained again like last year!
That’s it for the Magic Kingdom refurbishments this week. Now let’s check out what’s going on at all the Disney World hotels.
Disney World Hotel Refurbishments
There are several repeat offenders on this list, because a few Disney hotels have some long-term projects going on. One of the biggest is happening at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, near the Magic Kingdom.
Disney’s Contemporary Resort
At the contemporary, the guest rooms and first floor lobby are undergoing big updates. For the guest rooms, they’re getting a new Incredibles theme!
Although construction timelines are usually tentative at best, Disney stated previously that the new rooms are expected to open this fall. We’ll let you know if they update that timeline! The lobby is also closed, so the check-in and concierge will be located on the second floor now through late September of this year.
The Wave…of American Flavors restaurant located in the Contemporary is going through its own makeover, so it is unavailable at its normal location. However, you can still get the delicious Wave breakfast — with a new, amazing view! — at the California Grill restaurant upstairs!
Now that we’ve seen all the projects at the Contemporary, let’s hop on the monorail to check out another Magic Kingdom-area resort with some construction going on — Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
The room updates are complete over at the Polynesian, and now all that’s left is the Monorail station. The station is still undergoing refurbishments, so you can’t board the Monorail here yet. The Monorails are, however, traveling through this station, so we got a little glimpse of what’s happening here!
We’ll let you know as soon as we have any info about the station’s reopening at Polynesian.
All Star Movies
Over at Disney’s All Star Movies Resort, there are some lobby updates happening. The check-in area is scheduled to have some construction going on through October of this year.
As a reminder, you can use the My Disney Experience app to check in and go directly to your room when you arrive.
Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Old Key West Resort
Both Saratoga Springs and Old Key West are also having some work done on their lobby and check-in areas.
Signs and Cast Members will direct you to new locations for checking in, but you can also use the My Disney Experience app to go straight to your room when you arrive.
The lobby at Saratoga Springs is expected to be getting updates through late October of this year. The Old Key West lobby construction is scheduled through late September.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge
This one isn’t a refurbishment, but it’s still very exciting! The Animal Kingdom Lodge and Animal Kingdom Villas are reopening this coming week, on Thursday August 26th.
Reservations are open now for booking these spots.
That’s it for the refurbishments this week in Disney World! Keep following DFB for more updates as you plan your Disney World vacation.

The train station looks great to bad the train can not be used I always love to see it run . The Tron ride has to be finished before it can run again . Hopefully Tron will be finished this year so the ride will be running and the train .

Hi, Eileen! No word from Disney yet on the club level at the Poly. They’ve announced a timeline for several other Resort club levels, so hopefully we won’t have to wait too long for info on the remaining ones. We’ll update ASAP when Disney releases the dates!
