Greetings from Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge! We’re here this morning because something HUGE has returned to Disney World: buffets!
We’ve already seen a few recently reopened buffets pop up over at the Disneyland Resort, but now we’re checking out the first all-you-care-to-eat buffet experience to return to Disney World since last year’s closures began at Boma, which reopened today.
Since Disney World reopened last year, any all-you-care-to-enjoy dining experiences have been converted to family-style service. Boma is the first restaurant to reopen with a buffet service.
Jambo everybody!🍃 We’re all checked in and ready to have breakfast at Boma for reopening day! pic.twitter.com/3jHE32svGI

After we checked in for our reservation, we were brought over to our table.
It’s so nice to be back at Boma! This is a more high-end buffet than what you might expect so we’re ready to return to the eats.
We spotted the serving stations as we made our way through the restaurant.

It was definitely interesting to see a traditional buffet back in action. Health measures-wise, the buffet is pretty much the same as it was pre-closure, with a few minor changes.
You’ll spot lots of hand-sanitizer stations, for instance, to keep your hands clean while you serve. The buffet IS still self-service.
You’ll also spot signage reminding guests to wear a mask when up from their table, especially around the buffet. The only other health change is that the omelets are now grab-and-go instead of an omelet station.
Food-wise a LOT of Boma favorites have returned like Mickey and Simba Waffles…
…Turkey Bobotie…
…Sticky Buns…
…and a LOT more.
One new item we spotted was this helping of Smoked Salmon Deviled Eggs. We can’t WAIT to try those.
Since this is a buffet, you can grab any food item you would like (and as much of it as you can eat!)…

I hope CMs behind the service area will strictly enforce the masks at the buffet service area. 🙂

I heard no more POG (jungle) juice. Say it’s not so!

Cindy, POG juice appears to be gone from some locations but available (at least for now) at others.
