It’s quite a fun week in the parks because Disney Princess Week has taken over Disney World and Disneyland!
Along with EPCOT’s Tiana Playground and princess-themed entertainment, there are all kinds of treats and eats available in honor of our favorite characters! We’re heading all the way over to Disney’s Animal Kingdom for our next snack on the list.
Pocahontas has been a frequent visitor to the waterways across the park, so it’s no surprise that a dessert inspired by the princess would come to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, too! The Pocahontas Dessert is a pineapple banana cake with cream cheese coconut mousse, turquoise glaçage, colored sprinkles, a chocolate gem, a chocolate feather, and a sugar flower.
When we bit into this colorful dessert, the most dominant flavor was definitely the cream cheese coconut mousse! It was very creamy and smooth, and the coconut flavor was prominent. If you’re a big coconut fan, this dessert was made just for you.
Underneath this mountain of mousse was the pineapple banana cake. The cake was tasty on its own, but when you ate it with the mousse, you almost couldn’t taste it at all because the coconut cream cheese flavor just took over. And there was so much more of the mousse that it wasn’t hard to lose the cake completely.
We thought the decoration was beautiful, and the colorful sprinkles absolutely made us want to paint with all the colors of the wind. As far as taste, though, the sprinkles and sugar decorations were pretty standard and sweet, like most sprinkles.
Our biggest complaint? There just wasn’t enough cake to stand up to all the mousse on top. We’d have loved a little more cake flavor, but we still thought it was a delicious dessert.
If you love fruity flavors (and especially coconut), this is a must-try for you! It’s also a great dessert if you like cheesecake, as the mousse reminded us of cheesecake filling, with a creamy, smooth texture.
If you don’t like fruity desserts or were looking for something richer and more chocolate-y (we get it — sometimes you just need a chocolate fix!), you’ll probably want to try a different dessert. Maybe try our chocolate treat hack from Disney’s Magic Kingdom?
The Pocahontas Dessert is over at Creature Comforts for $5.99. You can snack on all the Disney Princess treats in the parks through August 29th! And, you can stay tuned with DFB for a look at all the snacks, entertainment, and news you need to see!
