COVID-19 cases have been on the rise in Florida.

After the CDC updated its guidelines about wearing masks indoors, Disney World changed its mask policy to require all guests (regardless of their vaccination status) to wear masks indoors. This comes after COVID-19 cases spiked 800% last month in Florida, but now cases are spiking again.
According to WPLG Local 10, Florida reported 26,203 new COVID-19 cases to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Wednesday, August 24th. This is the highest number reported in a single day from the state.

On July 30th, Florida reported the highest number of cases for a single day with 21,683 new cases. The 7-day moving average for new cases in the U.S. is 142,029 new cases per day, which means Florida accounts for 15% of those new cases.

In mid-July, it was reported that 1 in 5 COVID-19 cases in the United States were coming from Florida, which caused the state to lead the country with the highest amount of COVID-19 cases.

WDW resort is certainly contributing to this increase. Too many people, to close to one another, with only one mitigation measure in place! How sad!
There is something wrong covic cases going up everything is open for business . People are not taking it serious the gov. in Florida not talking about it anymore it is on death ears. Disney Universal if people getting it there no one will tell or know . It is up to your own person to decided if it is safe or not the gov. Is not going to close anything any more .
Where are these “reports” coming from? I don’t trust anything coming from the CDC. Remember recently how they said deaths were up then had to retract saying oops, the numbers were from the beginning of collecting data not just recent? Seriously? This entity is supposed to be running things but can’t even put out correct info???
They shut down when the numbers were lower.
Scary times in Florida. With the pandemic surging again in the state, our family has postponed our Disney trip from the fall to next spring. Hopefully, our children under 12 can be vaccinated by then, and numbers recede from their current highs.
Maybe WDW should require proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 test (within 3 – 5 days), to enter the parks/resort. New York requires such in order for people to see Broadway Plays, restaurants, concerts, etc. and their COVID rates are among the lowest. Just a suggestion.
I have an idea. In place of listing the number of COVID-19 Delta Cases. Why don’t we list those admitted to the hospital, those admitted to ICU and total number of deaths. I’m guessing that data does not fit a particular narrative. You know follow the data. Also, if you would like to see those numbers you can visit the Confirmed COVID-19 Cases for Florida from the CDC Web Site.
We get the shot/jab to help us against becoming really ill or worst. You know like the same way the Flu Shot helps, but does not prevent. In any event. As I stated last July, do what is best for you and your family. If that means you hunker down. Then do so. It is your choice. As it is mine to do what is best for me and my family. Call me foolish. But is it not insidious, to take away freedom of choice. Check whichever country you live in, to see if that hold true.
You know the CDC has given false statistics about Florida before. Lets see if they correct. Also cases does not me deaths or hospitalizations.
How many deaths or ICU cases? Record breaking as well? We have become accustom to the idea that we’re not even allowed to get sick anymore.

The park do them right thing Disney
Last year the CDC was counting hospitalizations and deaths. Now they’ve shifted to number of cases. There’s a difference.
I agree with the previous comment from TY. We were in Disney World a few weeks ago and were very uncomfortable in a few situations due to the lack of social distancing. We spoke to the manager in one restaurant because we were seated so closely to the people on either side of us. We were seated literally less than 2 feet away almost elbow to elbow. We told the manager we were uncomfortable with the situation and canceled our reservations and were told there would be no charge to us for the cancellation. I personally don’t understand why Disney is lifting more and more restrictions while this situation in Florida is getting worse and worse.
Gino, I’m not sure if this helps or clarifies anything, but it’s an article from the Miami Herald that does include information on deaths and hospitalizations. The quote that stands out to me explains that yesterday’s number of deaths is “the largest single-day increase to the death total in the state’s COVID pandemic history.” Of course, it’s always good to approach information critically and confirm from multiple sources, if possible.
