Lots of changes are taking place at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
The rooms are getting an Incredibles-themed makeover, the NEW Steakhouse 71 will replace The Wave…of American Flavors, and a new dining experience is even coming to California Grill as part of the 50th Anniversary. But today we noticed that another change has taken place at the Contemporary when it comes to one specific princess-themed treat.
Contempo Cafe, a quick service spot in Disney’s Contemporary Resort, has had a Cinderella Cupcake available for quite some time. Previously the cupcake was made with yellow cake, filled with pumpkin custard and topped with buttercream, a white chocolate slipper, and a fondant pumpkin.
When we had the cupcake last year, the cake was a little too dense and the frosting didn’t have much flavor. But, the pumpkin custard inside was AMAZING and tasted just like pumpkin pie. We seriously could have eaten a bowl of just that custard!
When we heard that the Cinderella Cupcake had changed and the pumpkin custard had been taken OUT of the treat, we had to investigate! So, we made our way to Contempo Cafe today and got the updated version of the treat.
When we were there, a Cast Member was able to find us one of the newer versions of this treat, but they still had some filled with the pumpkin custard for the time being. It seems this was the case because they’re transitioning over to the new version.
The updated Cinderella Cupcake is $5.99Â (just like its previous version). This treat is still made with yellow cake and is topped with buttercream, a fondant pumpkin, and a white chocolate slipper. The big change here is that the pumpkin custard is GONE. In its place is a vanilla custard instead.
The frosting on this treat was VERY sweet, and the cake portion itself was a pretty basic, standard yellow cake in terms of flavor.
Once again though, it’s the custard that stands out in this cupcake. The custard adds a different texture, which is a nice contrast to the cake and buttercream, and the vanilla custard is delicious!!
If you weren’t a fan of the pumpkin custard (or just aren’t a fan of pumpkin flavors in general) then this swap to vanilla custard might be a good option for you.
If you’ve got a serious sweet tooth, love vanilla, and want an Instagrammable treat, then this might be a good choice for you.
If you are looking for more of a chocolate treat, this isn’t a good choice since it really only has that one piece of what chocolate on it. Also note that the vanilla custard is the dominating flavor. If you’re not a fan of custard or vanilla in general, then this might be a skip for you. If you were a HUGE fan of the pumpkin custard, then this change might not be a great one for you (though the vanilla custard was tasty).
If you do want to try this treat, you can stop by Contempo Cafe and grab one!
