We’re most of the way through 2021, and things are really starting to pick up at Disney World!
Halloween season kicked off in August, October brings all the 50th Anniversary celebrations, and the holidays begin in early November. But what’s going on in September? Today we’re sharing a list of 10 things you need to know!
Halloween Continues
The big happening throughout September is all the fall and Halloween offerings! Several special treats have already arrived in the parks, but we’re expecting even more in the coming weeks. (Hope you like pumpkin!)
And if you’re a big fan of “spooky season,” then you may want to check out the Disney After Hours Boo Bash. This hard-ticketed event runs on select nights through Halloween and at this time, tickets are sold out online. (Although, you may be able to purchase them at the gate.)

We’re Expecting Some Changes at EPCOT
Earlier this year, Disney announced that a portion of the EPCOT transformation would be completed this summer, with the addition of the reimagined Club Cool and the new Creations Shop! These two areas are currently under construction, but we’ve been receiving some progress updates along the way.
No official opening dates have been announced yet, but we’re anxiously awaiting our chance to get more of the park back to normal (there are a LOT of construction walls right now). And after September, it will no longer be “summer,” so we’re hoping that this is the big month!
We’re In the Middle of the Food & Wine Festival
Speaking of EPCOT, something else big is happening there right now — the International Food & Wine Festival! This year’s fest is home to more than 30 food booths, exclusive merchandise, a scavenger hunt, and some awesome entertainment options.
We’ve got a full guide to this year’s fest that you should definitely check out if you’re planning a visit. We even have a “best of the fest” list with our favorite eats!

Previews Are Happening for Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
This month, previews for Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure officially kick off for those who aren’t Disney Cast Members. There are select preview dates for Disney Vacation Club members, Annual Passholders, and even some for D23 Gold Members.
We’ll be getting our first look inside the attraction this month and getting to ride it before the official opening on October 1st. And if you’re attending a preview, you may also get to try out the new restaurant in the France Pavilion — La Creperie de Paris!
Buffets Are Returning
With the successful reopening of Boma at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, more buffet-style restaurants are now returning to Walt Disney World. Crystal Palace, which reopened last year with a family-style menu, is returning to buffet service on September 12th.
And the buffet also returns to Biergarten on August 29th, so now guests will have THREE buffet options at Disney World. Keep in mind that these options may have changed slightly since your last visit, especially with current health and safety procedures.

Space 220 is Opening Soon
It’s almost time to dine at Disney World’s most highly-anticipated restaurant, Space 220! This new spot will be located by Mission: SPACE at EPCOT and we’ve literally been waiting on it to open for YEARS.
But a few weeks ago, we finally got our first glimpse inside the restaurant and we are excited to check it out!
Disney hasn’t shared an opening date, but the set opening timeline is mid-September. We’ll make sure to keep you updated once an official day is announced and reservations become available!
More Club Level Options Return
Since the resorts began to reopen last summer, Disney World’s Club Level Lounges have remained closed, and the Club Level suites and rooms have not had Club Level service. But in September, three options are returning!
Club Level returns to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa on September 16th, Disney’s BoardWalk Inn on September 23rd, and Disney’s Contemporary Resort on September 26th. We’ll make sure to check these updated services out and let you know if there are any major changes!

EPCOT Forever Has Its Last Show
Sadly, this month will be the last showing of the nighttime fireworks show EPCOT Forever. On September 28th, guests will be able to watch the last performance, filled with grand fireworks and nostalgic music from EPCOT’s past.
But, don’t worry, something that is supposedly even better is coming in its place — Harmonious! The new fireworks show will light up the night starting October 1st, and the soundtrack and effects are supposed to be pretty spectacular.
Happily Ever After Has Its Last Show
And speaking of last shows, many Disney fans are already mourning the loss of Happily Ever After, the fireworks show that has been at Disney’s Magic Kingdom since 2017. Many guests have come to love and appreciate the show, but it will light up the sky for the last time on September 29th.
Like EPCOT, Magic Kingdom will be getting a new fireworks spectacular, this one made specifically for the 50th Anniversary. The new show, Disney Enchantment, will feature projections down Main Street, U.S.A. and has its first showing on October 1st.

Disney World is Preparing for the 50th Anniversary
And speaking of the 50th Anniversary, we’re starting to see Disney preparing for the special occasion big time! There’s a new merchandise collection in the main gift shops, and we’re expecting even more items to come in October.
We’re also starting to see more special decorations pop up around the parks, with 50th Anniversary banners, castle decorations, and new paint jobs for some ride facades. And some Disney Resorts are getting updated as well, like the Polynesian Resort with new Moana rooms and the Contemporary, which is getting a The Incredibles theme.
We’re willing to bet that we’ll notice quite a few changes this month ahead of the big day, so stay tuned to DFB for all the news and updates. September is going to be really big for Disney World, but October is going to be HUGE! You definitely don’t want to miss out on all the fun!
