The holiday season will be here before we know it!
After all these Mickey pumpkins and spooky decorations, we’ll see a quick shift to Christmas trees and candy canes! Disney World will be all decked out and host Disney Very Merriest After Hours event in Magic Kingdom throughout the season, but what about Disneyland Resort? We haven’t seen a Christmas tree or snow on Main Street, U.S.A. over in Disney’s first theme park since the 2019 holiday season due to the closures for COVID-19. But now, we have some important news for you!
Holiday celebrations will be returning to Disneyland this year!!
The festivities will start on November 12th, 2021 and last allllll the way through January 9th, 2022!
In Disneyland Park, guests will be greeted by a 60-foot-tall Christmas tree on Main Street, U.S.A.! It will be decorated with almost 1,800 ornaments and will be a great spot for Holiday photos.
Two rides will also see seasonal transformations once again! “it’s a small world” Holiday and Haunted Mansion Holiday (which will soon also be available for Halloween) will be back for the celebrations!
Guests will also get to see Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle sparkle with light each evening in an enchanted wintertime spectacle!
And “A Christmas Fantasy” Parade is returning for this year’s festivities! The parade will run through the park multiple times a day for guests to enjoy.
Also throughout the park, characters and princesses will be dressed in their seasonal best, and Disney says there will even be a few surprises this year!
At the end of the day, there will be a magical “snowfall” and colorful projections on Main Street, U.S.A. AND on the façade of “it’s a small world” during the “Believe in Holiday Magic” fireworks!
The finale is a “kiss goodnight” moment from several Disney characters, who will be dressed in their pajamas and wave goodbye to guests from the balcony of the Disneyland Railroad Train Staton in Town Square! Characters in their PJs?! That will be SO cute!
Over at Disney California Adventure Park, the holiday magic continues! Disney Festival of Holidays is back and will include celebrations for Christmas/Navidad, Diwali, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and Three Kings Day.
Festivities will include live entertainment, themed merchandise, and 8 food marketplaces! Disney says a team of chefs drew on inspiration from their own unique stories to handcraft some of the festive foods on the marketplace menus.
Also happening in California Adventure is “Disney ¡Viva Navidad!” — a fun street party featuring Mexican folklórico dancers and Mariachis, Brazilian samba dancers and percussionists, giant mojiganga puppets, and Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse in their fiesta best!
In Paradise Gardens, guests will find festively themed food and drinks, and live music and performers starting November 12th! And, later in the holiday season, Disney will debut Mirabel from the Walt Disney Animation Studios upcoming film Encanto.
Over at Pacific Wharf, you will find holiday-themed menus with special food and drinks to snack on while you listen to live musical entertainment! There will also be craft stations and cookie decorating kits in this area for the kids to enjoy!
And in Radiator Springs, the cars will be decked out for the holidays! There will be a snow-covered billboard at the entrance of Cars Land and a hubcap-studded tree in front of the courthouse. Cleverly themed automotive decorations will be found all along Route 66 and we will see holiday transformations of two rides — Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl and Mater’s Jingle Jamboree!
If you’re looking for Santa Claus, you will find him in his rustic home at the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail! Guests will get to share their holiday wishes with Ol’ Saint Nick and take souvenir pictures at this location.
Finally, guests can catch Mickey Mouse and pals celebrating the season with a party, dancing along to the Holiday Toy Drummers several times a day!
The holiday fun will also be found in the Downtown Disney District and at the Hotels of Disneyland Resort. There will be traditional decor and festive entertainment at these locations!
That’s ALL of the celebrations coming this holiday season to Disneyland! We can’t wait to see the parade again, meet Santa Claus, and eat some delicious food from the Festival of Holidays! Stay tuned to DFB for more info on everything happening at Disneyland.
