If there’s one new restaurant we are VERY much looking forward to in Disney World — it’s Space 220.
This upcoming, immersive dining experience is set to debut in EPCOT SOON and we want to make sure you’re in the loop on EVERYTHING there is to know about the space-themed restaurant. Let’s dive in!
The Experience
First up, let’s talk about the experience. Space 220 is coming to the Mission: SPACE area in EPCOT and will treat guests to dinner “in space.”
Yep, that’s right! You’ll hop into an elevator that will seemingly take you HIGH above the earth to grab some bites in the cosmos.
The elevator will have views of your trip to space and you can even get a sneak peek of the ride up right here!

Once you arrive, you’ll find yourself in the space-themed dining room. As you eat, you’ll gaze out the windows towards simulated views of space where you’ll see work and leisure activities happening. Check out the VERY cool theming!

Last year, we even got a glimpse of what the flatware might look like! This spot should be VERY themed and we can’t wait to take you on a look around the restaurant!

Opening Date
Space 220 has been a looooong anticipated opening. It was first announced back in 2017 and has been delayed SEVERAL times since then. But now, we finally know that Space 220 will open on September 20th, 2021!
This exciting opening is likely to be very popular. We’ll let you know as soon as we hear about reservations and availability!

Hiring and Construction
Now that we know the opening date, we don’t have to be AS concerned about progress in the restaurant, but it’s still nice to be in the loop! Back in May, we spotted that this restaurant was hiring a ton of positions like a bartender, cook, food runner, host, server, restaurant cashier, and busser.
And the entrance to Space 220, located at the Mission: SPACE building in EPCOT, has seen some signs of the opening too. This space was previously SURROUNDED by construction barriers, but a ton of the walls have started to come down!

The Menu
Finally, you KNOW we gotta tell you what we know about the menu. We may not know the whole menu yet, but we DO know that Space 220 will serve up a multi-course prix fixe menu for lunch (two courses) and dinner (three courses).
AND we know that the menu will feature “atmospheric cocktails.” Last year, we heard about some testing for the Space 220 cocktail menu. We sure hope the drinks look THIS good!

We are SO excited to give this new restaurant a try when it opens later this month. We’ll be bringing you more updates about it as Disney releases them (we can’t WAIT to see the menu!). Keep an eye on DFB for all the news!

Monica says
I’m so upset they’re opening 2 days after we’re there! We’ve been holding out hope that they would open on our last day at Epcot.
Rory says
Have they started taking reservations? I don’t see any availability on the app but didn’t check every date.
DFB Sarah says
Rory, not yet!
Brittany says
Any idea if we will be able to have just drinks or drinks and dessert, rather than the full meal?
DFB Sarah says
Brittany, typically unless there’s a prix fixe menu, buffet, or family style dining, you can order whatever you’d like (and skip things you don’t want — like entrees, in your case). When we see a menu for Space 220, we will have a better idea of how they’re structuring things; it’s expected to be a la carte.
Brittany says
Oh, I thought it had been confirmed that it was prix fixe.
DFB Sarah says
Brittany, it is prix fixe. The response when we asked about just ordering certain items from the menu was that diners seated at tables in the dining room would be required to order the prix fixe and could add on menu items (there are some separately-priced sides). Those looking to order a la carte would need to sit in the lounge.
