Hello to all the Animal Kingdom fans out there!
While we were in Disney’s wildest park this week, we found a LOT of new snacks, some brand-new merchandise, and 50th Anniversary decorations with a special Animal Kingdom twist! Let’s check out all the updates that came to the park.
Of course we’re starting with the most important update — food!
Animal Kingdom Food Updates
Zuri’s Sweets Shop
We were innocently perusing for new Halloween snacks at Zuri’s Sweets Shop (over in the Harambe area of Animal Kingdom), when we surprisingly found a whole selection of churro-flavored treats instead! We grabbed one of each, because we’re not quitters.
There was a Churro Cupcake ($5.19), a Churro Sugar Cookie ($5.49), a Churro Rice Krispie Treat ($5.49), and a Churro Marshmallow Pop ($4.99).
We REALLY hope this means the delicious Churro Toffee from Disneyland may make its way over to Disney World soon!

We also saw a unique-looking caramel apple, with a pipette sticking out of the side! We tried that as well, and it turns out it’s a Chamoy Caramel Apple.
The apple is coated in caramel and rolled in Tajín seasoning (a mix of mild chili peppers, lime, and sea salt), and the pipette was holding chamoy, which is a Mexican condiment made with fruit, chilies, and lime juice.
This apple was $10.99 at Zuri’s.

We weren’t done yet, though! We did find quite a few Halloween treats available at Zuri’s (what we were there for originally). We couldn’t help but grab a Halloween Mickey Mouse Rice Krispie treat, which is returning from last year.
The treat is colored orange like a Mickey Jack-O-Lantern and has chocolate designs! It was $5.49 at Zuri’s Sweets Shop.

Kusafiri Coffee Shop and Bakery
Even though we were stuffed full of snacks at this point, we still went to see if Kusafiri Coffee Shop and Bakery (located near by Kilimanjaro Safaris) was open yet.
Sadly, the window was still closed when we went by. This spot was supposed to open with new menu items on August 29th, but we haven’t seen it open yet.

Animal Kingdom Merchandise Updates
At the Discovery Trading Company gift shop, we spotted some new Disney Wishables with a villains theme!
You can get a mystery pack that has either Hades, Cruella de Vil, Scar, or Maleficent…
…or you can buy a separate Headless Horseman Wishable!
The Headless Horseman and mystery packs were each $12.99.
We also spotted a new Halloween Slap Bracelet in this store!
The front has happy pumpkins and ghosts with candy, and the back says “Trick or Treat.”
You can get it for $9.99 at the Discovery Trading Company.

Animal Kingdom Construction Updates
We’ve seen all kinds of new 50th Anniversary decorations in the parks lately, but now Animal Kingdom is getting in on the action!
We spotted banners up in the park with green EARidescent backgrounds and gold animal print borders!
We love that each park has their own spin on the banners that have been going up for the 50th Anniversary. And speaking of the 50th, we also saw construction coming along on the raft in Discovery River Lagoon that appears to be a part of Animal Kingdom’s upcoming new show, Disney KiteTails!
The show will premiere on October 1st of this year.

Atmosphere and Crowd Updates
While we were walking around the park, we noticed a common theme among the rides — wait times were SUPER low.
We’re talking every-ride-was-basically-10-minutes-and-under low. While we were in the park, Kilimanjaro Safaris had a 5-minute wait time, and Expedition Everest was at 10 minutes.
We even walked onto Flight of Passage in Pandora recently. WHAT??
Crowds have been really low across Disney World this week, and Animal Kingdom was no exception. Seriously, where is everybody?
We’re not complaining, though — it was very peaceful to walk around the gorgeous park and enjoy the low crowds.
That’s a wrap on our updates for Animal Kingdom this week! Keep following DFB for more news about the Disney World parks.
