I can see families who can’t afford Disney World turn to their kids and say this, ” Well Jimmy, the only way we can afford to go to Disney now is by selling all your clothes, and have you wear paper bags and potato sacks from now on! How does THAT sound?”. Robin Williams is rolling in his grave! Walt would be foaming at the mouth rabid.

It is extremely sad that the cost is getting so outrageous. It has always been expensive but worth it. Not so sure that it will be worth it in the future if you can’t afford Genie or pay for ride tickets.
Also not sure the long waits are worth it anymore because only “poor” people will be in those lines. Maybe they should have a few days a year that only people with below a certain income can come and enjoy Disney. Haven’t seen many posts from the lady who used to have a blog for Disney on a Budget people

Pay per ride? We were thinking about going to disneyworld for the 50th anniversary in 2022 or 2023, husband is a disabled veteran and we have a disabled adult daughter who loves disney. It will take us that long to save up the money to go. I am now thinking twice about going if you are charging for rides. The nice thing about theme parks usually is that you pay a certain amount of money for admission, and you do not have to pay anything more for rides or shows. IThat makes it worry free when you get there, if you have paid for your room and plane fare to get there. You then just have to worry about food, which you can be flexible about. It is a horrrible idea, I hope you change that.

Patricia, the pay-per-ride program (Individual Lightning Lane Attraction Seletions) and the paid FastPass+ replacement (Disney Genie+) are optional. Disney World will still have Standby lines for all attractions except those that are using Virtual Queues. At present, only Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure is using Virtual Queue, but you’ll want to check on these things when it’s time for your trip since a lot can change between now and then. I also recommend checking out the Disability Access System (DAS) in case that would be helpful for your husband and daughter.

Toni, yes, we expect you’ll be fine as long as you’re both added as Friends & Family in the account.
