Disney has a lot of projects going on right now!
One that we’ve been watching closely is construction on the new TRON Lightcycle Run roller coaster in Disney’s Magic Kingdom. The ride was originally going to open in time for the 50th Anniversary Celebrations, but it’s since been delayed. Today, with views from the PeopleMover, we saw some progress with the construction!
We were riding by the construction on the PeopleMover and looking for any sign of progress on the upcoming roller coaster.

The project was looking just like it has recently when we spotted a new addition close to the coaster’s entrance to the building.
Do you see it too? It looks like there’s a ride test vehicle of some sort on the tracks!
This could be a sign that the ride is getting closer to completion! When it’s finished, this ride will be a roller coaster that uses motorcycle-type vehicles as the ride cars. These bikes are speedy, getting up to 59 miles an hour!
Light plays a big role in the ride, with colored, light-up panels around the track on the outside part.
We can’t wait for the ride to be opened in the Magic Kingdom! Until then, keep following DFB for more updates on its construction.

What I can’t wait for is to get the Disney World Railroad back. It’s been close while Tron has been under construction, and it’s just not a Disney vacation without starting with a ride around Magic Kingdom on the choo-choo!!! 🙁
Brittney says
Being completely honest, how likely is this ride to be completed by September 2022? I feel like this and guardians have been under construction for forever. My family is planning a huge trip Sept 2022 and I really want this ride to be open!
DFB Sarah says
Brittney, it does feel like they’ve been under construction forever. It’s impossible for us to know how close they are. From the outside, things seem to be far along, but all the interior work and technical work and testing… who knows? We will keep reporting and hopefully get some update from Disney soon.

Any sign of the Disney dining plan at all?

I am interested to f9nd out if the attraction will shut down during rain or wind activity like the Skyliner ? Ride capacity could be seriously impacted…

I love the train also, but this Tron
coaster looks absolutely awesome! I love coasters, but won’t b able to enjoy Tron because of a medical problem; I hope everyone else has fun on it. I’ll enjoy the train when it comes back!
