Disney World’s 50th anniversary is coming up very soon!
Starting October 1st, all of the magical celebrations will kick off, like new cavalcades, shows, and even attractions opening! One thing we’re super excited about is the new fireworks show coming to Magic Kingdom — Disney Enchantment. And, we just learned of a very special way you can take in the new show!
A NEW dining event is coming to Disney’s Contemporary Resort for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary — Celebration at the Top: 50th Flavors & Fireworks.
Guests will be welcomed to the private Sonoma and Napa Rooms at California Grill to have a selection of specialty drinks, sushi, and small plates that pay homage to the original menu from the resort’s opening in 1971!
After cocktail hour, you will be able to step outside onto the observation deck on the 15th floor for a great view of Disney Enchantment, the new fireworks show coming for the anniversary. The music from the show will be piped in so you can hear AND see the show!
The event will then continue back inside with desserts, cordials, and coffee.
The first event will be held on October 2nd and reservations will be available starting September 17th. The cost is $129 per person, plus tax and gratuity. Complimentary valet parking is also included with this event.
There is also a dress code for the event! Guests must adhere to the minimum dress code requirements, but dressier attire is also welcome. Here are the minimum dress code requirements:
- Men must wear khakis, slacks or dress shorts and collared shirts. Jeans may be worn if in good condition. Sport coats are optional.
- Women must wear Capri pants, skirts, dresses or dress shorts. Jeans may be worn if in good condition.
- Not permitted are tank tops, flip-flops, swimsuits, swimsuit cover-ups, hats for gentlemen, cut-offs, torn clothing and T-shirts with offensive language and/or graphics.
How exciting! We can’t wait to see what food will pay homage to the original menu from when the resort first opened. We’ll be at the event to give you a full review, so stay tuned to DFB for more!

Michael says
Hi, so we have dinner at the California Grill on Oct 2nd. Does this impact us getting to watch the fireworks from the observation deck?
william damon says
can you still make regular dinner reservations for the California Grill
william damon says
And still go out and see the fireworks
DFB Sarah says
William, since the parties will be in two private dining spaces, we expect that guests will be able to make regular reservations for the main restaurant and be able to watch the fireworks show.
DFB Sarah says
Michael, we don’t think it will, but you may want to reach out to Disney to confirm.
Cindy says
I spoke with one of the Magical Experience events CM yesterday (Tues 9/14/21) and she stated that only those who have reservations at the fireworks party will be allowed out into the observation deck which is their prime viewing location. Those dining in the regular dining room will not, but still be able to view the fireworks from their windows. I’m debating whether to do the CA Grill party or eat at the Grand Floridian for dinner and watch from there. However, I believe the Contemporary is closer to the fireworks.
Mary Schumaker says
So how do you go about making reservations for the Fireworks dining party at the California grill? is it a special ticketsd event, or do you make an adr like other restaurant reservations?
Kristy says
I was really saddened to see that this was the experience, for I had been looking forward to having my birthday dinner there. I don’t like seafood and don’t eat sugar or grains (paleo), so most of the food looks like I wouldn’t be able to consume. William, I didn’t even consider this question assuming it was just portioned off. Thank you for giving me hope DFB Sarah!
Danielle says
Since this is a nighttime special, I’d be very interested to see if brunch at the top is returning. It’s a favorite of ours!
Diane Levendakes says
Okay! So this just sounds like a version of Sip, Savor & Sparkle, which we went to in July 2019. We had a very nice time, but I think I would still like to just have a res in the regular restaurant. Oh well, My window doesn’t open til the 28th, so I’m sure that will be figured out by then. (I hope!)
DFB Sarah says
Mary, it’ll require a special “Enchanting Extras” reservation. Here’s the page for the party so you can see what Disney says about it.
DFB Sarah says
Cindy, thank you for sharing this. We’re going to look into it a little more to see if we can get confirmation from Disney. You are correct that Contemporary is closer to the fireworks.
