It’ll be quite the busy holiday season in Walt Disney World this year!
With the Disney Very Merriest After Hours event, the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays, and everything happening around the resorts, parks, and Disney Springs, there’s so much to see and do! Not to mention, we’re also getting to enjoy the festivities of Disney World’s 50th Anniversary. And now, to add onto the fun, a fan-favorite holiday celebration will be returning!
We now know that the classic Candlelight Processional WILL be coming back to EPCOT this year!
For those who may not be familiar with it, Candlelight Processional is a retelling of the story of Christmas in the American Adventure Pavilion at EPCOT, featuring a celebrity narrator and a choir of Disney Cast Members. It’s a holiday tradition that is adored by guests, but it was canceled last year due to health and safety regulations.
This show was not included in Disney World’s original holiday announcements, but today Disney officially announced that Candlelight Processional will be coming back to EPCOT from November 26th through December 30th as part of the International Festival of the Holidays.
The show will once again take place in America Gardens Theatre with a live orchestra, cast choir, and celebrity narrator. Disney has shared that all of the performers — Cast Members, musicians, singers, and narrators — will have to be fully vaccinated.Â
Disney has also shared that they are not planning to host choirs from different community groups and schools as part of the performance this year. Instead, the Cast Member choir will be expanded to fill the stage.
Disney noted that they’re “optimistic that the guest choirs will be able to rejoin” the show next year.
Disney is still working to confirm the schedule of celebrity narrators for the event and details about Dining Packages for Candlelight Processional. We’ll be on the lookout for more updates about that and we’ll share that information with you as we learn more.
If you’re a big fan of Candlelight Processional, be sure to mark your calendars and see if you’ll be able to catch this spectacular show during your next visit. Stay tuned to DFB for all the holiday happenings around Walt Disney World Resort!

As a follower of Jesus, I am thrilled to see a celebration representing the true meaning of Christmas! Usually Christmas is overrun by Santas, snowmen and gingerbread, which are all fun, for sure, but not the original meaning of Christmas. Christ’s birth is God’s gift to us all, because He is the way, the truth and the life! 🙂

I’m so excited that Candlelight Processional is happening forChristmas. 2021! All the pieces are falling into place for an epic visit in December 2021! I can’t wait!

I’m so happy about this. I have only seen this once and I was so filled with joy! It was Neil Patrick Harris the year and night I went. I would like to see a different star this year, but wouldn’t be disappointed if it was him again, he’s wonderful!

Jan, I love hearing that your trip is coming together. Have a wonderful time.
Jen says
What time of day and how long is this ceremony typically? Trying to figure out if appropriate for a 2, 5 & 6 year old to attend.
DFB Sarah says
Jen, Candlelight Processional runs about 40 minutes. You’ll want to factor in a little wait in line. Some folks line up 45-60 minutes early for a show, since seating is first come, first served. There are typically three showings per day (5PM 6:15PM, and 8PM).
