We take a look at all the closures and refurbishments in Disney World so that you can stay ahead while you plan your upcoming Disney trip.
We’re looking at next week now, and there are a couple of closed attractions as well as LOTS of hotel refurbishments going on. Read more to find out if your hotels will be having some construction while you’re there!
Next week, the only park with any scheduled refurbishments is Disney’s Magic Kingdom. Keep in mind that other attractions can still close due to weather and technical difficulties, but these are the only ones we’re planning on so far.
Magic Kingdom
The Walt Disney World Railroad is still closed, including all of the stations around the Magic Kingdom.
The railroad’s tracks were interrupted by construction on the TRON: Lightcycle Run ride over in Tomorrowland.
The TRON roller coaster isn’t supposed to open for a while (and the construction looks like there’s still a little way to go), so we’re not expecting to see the WDW Railroad reopen anytime soon.
We’ll keep you updated on both the railroad and TRON opening dates!
The Main Street Confectionery is also listed as being closed for all of next week in Disney World.
This treats stop has been getting updates to the interior, and recently we saw that the construction walls around it came down!
However, it hasn’t been taken off the calendar for refurbishments yet.
We’ve got our fingers crossed that it’ll be back in time for the 50th Anniversary celebrations, beginning October 1st, but Disney hasn’t made any announcements about its return yet.
Disney World Hotels
Coming off our list of closed hotels is Disney’s All-Star Music Resort, which reopened on Thursday, September 16th!
We’re taking a look around, so you can check out the return of this value resort here.

Disney’s Port Orleans – Riverside, Port Orleans – French Quarter, and All-Star Sports Resorts are still closed. These are expected to reopen on October 14th for Riverside, October 28th for French Quarter, and December 9th for All-Star Sports.
Reservations are now open for all of these resorts, so you can book your stay ASAP.
Disney’s Contemporary Resort is starting to wrap up its BIG refurbishment. We saw the new elevators last week…
…and a lot of news about Steakhouse 71 — the new restaurant replacing The Wave…of American Flavors — came out as well!
Reservations are currently OPEN for the new steakhouse, and we’ve taken a look at the menus, prices, and concept art as well.
Steakhouse 71 is set to open on October 1st for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the Contemporary.
The guest rooms are also getting updates at the Contemporary, with a new Incredibles theme.
In addition, the lobby is under construction right now, so guests are being asked to go to the second floor to check-in and find the concierge.
This refurbishment is scheduled to last through late September 2021.
Speaking of lobby updates, several other hotels have their lobbies under construction as well. Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort is having work done on the front desks, but some desks are still available there for check-in. This construction is expected to last through October 2021.
Disney’s Old Key West Resort lobby is also being re-done, and the construction here will last through late September 2021.
Finally, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort will have lobby construction through late October 2021.

John Smith says
Will Boatwright’s reopen with the reopening of PO Riverside?
DFB Sarah says
John Smith, I don’t believe Disney has said yet. I checked the website for hours, and it still shows unavailable, even past the reopening date for the Resort. We will report as soon as the info is available, one way or the other.
