Several changes have been made and are set to be made when it comes to the Walt Disney Company.
We’ve seen reorganizations of some of its departments, a greater focus placed on streaming, and more. Recently, Disney also announced a big change for many of its employees when it comes to their working location, and now we’ve got an update on the situation.
Earlier this year, we got word that thousands of Disney employees are set to be relocated from California to Florida. Disney announced that it would be building a new campus for its employees in the Lake Nona area of Orlando. Today, Disney just took a big step in making that campus a reality.
The Orlando Business Journal has reported that an entity associated with Disney, Dynamic Campus LLC, has bought nearly 60 acres of land in the Lake Nona area for around $46 million. The seller of the property was Lake Nona Land Co. LLC, an entity associated with Lake Nona developer Tavistock Development Co.
According to the Orlando Business Journal, “The property is north of Lake Nona Boulevard, south of State Road 417, west of the Lake Nona Town Center, and east of Medical City Drive.”
Neither Disney nor the seller have made an official statement about the purchase yet. The Orlando Business Journal shares that public records show the property is able to support up to 1.8 million square feet of office space in multiple buildings that are at least 4 stories high. According to the Orlando Business Journal, a building of that size could support 12,000 jobs potentially, but the size of the new offices haven’t been confirmed yet.
We’ll keep an eye out for more details and let you know when we have updates. Stay tuned for more Disney news.
