Disney World has been preparing for the 50th Anniversary for quite some time now.
We’ve already spotted lots of 50th Anniversary character statues, decorations at the front of Magic Kingdom, topiaries, and more. Cinderella Castle is also decked out in all kinds of decor to celebrate the big occasion. Now, Disney has added ANOTHER 50th Anniversary decoration near Cinderella Castle, but have they just gone too far this time?
Today, as we visited Magic Kingdom, we found that NEW 50th Anniversary banners have been added to the pillars that extend out from the central castle area.

There are a few different banners you’ll find in this space.
On some of the banners you’ll find beautiful concept art from Cinderella.
One side features artwork of Cinderella’s carriage, and some castle gates…
…as well as parts of the inside and outside of the castle.
Another banner features different pieces of concept art.
That banner depicts different scenes including Cinderella dancing with the prince…
…and the magical moment when the pumpkin is transformed into a carriage.
Did you know that Mary Blair worked on concept art for Cinderella and her unique colors and styles influenced that film and many others?
On the other banners, you’ll find some swirl designs, two birds from Cinderella, and a “50” in the center.
It’s no birthday cake castle, but has Disney overdone the 50th Anniversary decorations near the castle with these banners?

Marilyn says
At least the castle doesn’t look like a cake! It coukd be way worse!
Karen says
The banners them selves look fantastic and beautiful. But… I’m not sure that they are in quite the right place, do they enhance the castle?? Possible not in my opinion (but I haven’t see them in person)
Nicole says
Although I-am glad to see Mary Blair getting her due..
Sometimes more is just more
Maria says
I wish they would make a portfolio or booklet available with copies of those. I like the style of Mary Blair’s ( and Eyvand Earle’s) work.
Ken says
A lot of goop, maybe too much.
Jenn says
Just from the pictures, they don’t look like too much to me. The colors aren’t too bright and actually seem to blend in with the pink on the castle. But perhaps in person, it is a bit much. It’s hard to say without actually being there.
Melanie Durham says
I haven’t seen them in person yet, but the pictures and videos you have shown us are beautiful. I feel that the banners tell the story of Cinderella and they have great color and the castle and Cinderella are both royal and to me it looks like royalty. And I also agree….at least it doesn’t look like a birthday cake! Lol!
Karen says
Too much. Distracting. Take them down!
Jen Barker says
The castle columns are fairly solid and plain and the banners have certainly enhanced these, making them far more attractive and decorative for the Anniversary. Lovely concept art from Mary Blair and a wonderful place to display her work.
Gary says
Take it all down and lower the price of admission and bring back fast pass I know this won’t be published so why doesn’t matter anyway moderator doesn’t like me goodbye AJ . My wife and I just watch don He’s been very vocal about this lightning Lane stuff you should be too it’s ridiculous to pay to ride something I’ve already paid the bride why they just bring back the old thing to eat ticket and all that ABC DEFG or whatever
Gary says
Sorry I meant eTicket and fast pass bring it all back bring everything back old style Genie Plus and lightning Lane is just ridiculous
Jennifer Howard says
The Cinderella concept art is beautiful it just seems…jarring on the banner, for color and theme. We’re not celebrating 50 years of Cindy. I like the “plain” 50th banners, but they’d look better If the were pointed at the bottom like the others. They just seem too much stretching from top to bottom.
