EPCOT has been undergoing a HUGE transformation these past few years!
While some projects have been completed, like EPCOT’s entrance area, others are still a work in progress, like attractions that were supposed to be opening soon. But, EPCOT is still getting ready for the big 50th anniversary celebration. And, we just learned about another part of the park’s transformation that will be ready for the anniversary!
Starting October 1st, the 4 neighborhoods of EPCOT will be unified! Specifically, according to a press release from Disney, “Beginning Oct. 1, 2021, EPCOT will be unified with four neighborhoods that each speak to important aspects of the world and its people.” These neighborhoods are World Showcase, World Celebration, World Nature, and World Discovery.
Obviously, we’re already familiar with World Showcase, but the other 3 neighborhoods are new names for sections of Future World. Essentially, starting October 1st, it looks like the term “Future World” will go away and will be replaced by “World Discovery,” “World Celebration,” and “World Nature.”
These new neighborhoods were announced as part of EPCOT’s big transformation and they will include new experiences. Note that not all of the new experiences within these new “neighborhoods” will be available starting October 1st, but it appears the new neighborhood names will likely start to be utilized on that date.
But, there are new things happening in World Showcase, too. On October 1st, the new expansion of the France pavilion will have its grand opening, which includes the new Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure attraction. La Crêperie de Paris will also make its debut with a table service and quick service option.
Also coming to the World Showcase soon is Harmonious, the new nighttime spectacular that will take place in and over the World Showcase Lagoon! The show is one of the largest ever created for a Disney theme park and will celebrate the way Disney music inspires people around the world.
Now, let’s talk about the new neighborhoods in Future World. The first is World Celebration, which includes the entrance plaza that was recently transformed, as well as the new Creations Shop and Club Cool. And starting October 1st, Spaceship Earth will also transform at night into a Beacon of Magic with new lights shining across the reflective panels. We’ve already seen a sneak peek of this new lighting, and it’s pretty spectacular!
Next is World Nature, which is dedicated to understanding and preserving the beauty, awe and balance of the natural world. This area includes The Land pavilion and The Seas with Nemo & Friends pavilion. It will also include the new Journey of Water attraction inspired by Moana, which is still under construction.
Finally, we have World Discovery, which features stories about science, technology and intergalactic adventure. Already open in this area is Space 220, the exciting new restaurant that lets you eat a meal from 220 miles above Earth’s surface at the Centauri Space Station! This area will also include the new attraction Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, but it is still under construction and we do not have an opening timeline for the ride yet.
We’re so excited to finally see these 4 neighborhoods come together on October 1st as part of EPCOT’s historic transformation! We’ll keep you updated on any other EPCOT construction news, so stay tuned to DFB for more.

So, what about that structure that was supposed to be multi-level set in the area behind Spaceship Earth, roughy where the old fountains were? Is that still going forward?
DFB Sarah says
Zippy, that’s what was being referred to as a festival pavilion. It looked really neat, right? At this point, our understanding is that it’s not in progress, but I don’t believe there’s been an official update. Dreamers Point — an area with a statue of Walt Disney — is supposed to be moving forward, and that is expected to be in the area of the fountain.

Will miss the Fountain. Spent many happy hours with coffee by that fountain and I loved the significance of the waters from many countries.
Thanks for all the info.
