We’re going to Disney’s Animal Kingdom today!
In the park, we’re going to see if there are any updates with the food and snacks, merchandise, and construction. We found some of each today, so let’s see what’s new!
As usual, we’ll start with our favorite part of the Disney World parks: food!
Animal Kingdom Food Update
While we were in Creature Comforts at Animal Kingdom (the Starbucks location in this park) we noticed one of our favorite treats back in the display case.
We tried the Cheetah Brownie back in January of this year, and we were very impressed with the brownie/chocolate chip cookie combo base and mocha mousse on top. Overall, it was a delicious treat.
Plus, it’s a very Instagram-able treat! You can get it at Creature Comforts for $5.49. Now it’s called “Cheetah Mocha Mousse” instead of “Cheetah Brownie.”

Animal Kingdom Merchandise Update
We took a ride on Dinosaur over in DinoLand U.S.A…
…and on the way out we stopped in the Dino Institute Shop (the gift shop you pass through on our way out of the ride). We found a new red dinosaur toy there!
The toy looks like the Carnotaurus dinosaur that scares guests during the ride!
You can get one for $22.95 at the Dino Institute Shop. Or, if you’re looking for a less scary reminder of your trip, you can head to Creature Comforts to check out the new 50th Anniversary pin we found there.
The pin is part of the Starbucks “Been There” collection, and each Disney World theme park has one with its own theme.
The Animal Kingdom pin has the Tree of Life, Zazu, and leaf designs around the big “50” logo. There’s also a little Starbucks sign hanging from the bottom. You can get one for $12.99 at Creature Comforts.
Disney’s Magic Kingdom also has a tote bag with similar designs as part of this collection, but a Cast Member in Animal Kingdom said they weren’t sure when the Animal Kingdom totes would come in. We’ll keep checking back for those! In other Animal Kingdom gift shops, we didn’t see much of the 50th Anniversary merchandise. We noticed some reusable bags…
…as well as pins and lanyards at Discovery Trading.
But if you’re looking for the bulk of the 50th Anniversary items, you’ll want to head to the Magic Kingdom or World of Disney in Disney Springs.
Animal Kingdom Construction Update
One of the biggest things coming to Animal Kingdom for the 50th Anniversary Celebrations is the new KiteTails daytime show.
Cast Members are getting ready for the show’s debut on October 1st, with new decorations around the show area.
We saw more kite decorations hanging near the seating area…
…as well as banners around the entrance.
One of the banners reminds us of Kevin from Disney Pixar’s Up!
The barges in the lagoon are also coming along, with the hut structures looking more finished every day.
We’re not sure what these huts will be for in the show, but we can’t wait to see!

In addition, we went on the Maharajah Jungle Trek in the Asian section of Animal Kingdom.
The bat section of this trek has reopened after refurbishments to the cave closed it down for a while.
We didn’t see many bats out (likely because they’re nocturnal animals), but a keeper was back there doing some work.
That’s all for our updates from the Animal Kingdom. Keep following DFB for more news, especially with a TON of updates coming for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebrations!
