Disney World has made changes to its hotels over the past several years. Disney debuted newly re-themed Moana guest rooms at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, but there’s also been quite a lot going on at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
Back in 2021, the hotel debuted a newly refurbished lobby area with Mary Blair-inspired designs along with the new restaurant, Steakhouse 71. The resort’s rooms have also been re-themed to Pixar’s The Incredibles and now we’re sharing a FULL tour of one of these updated rooms with you!
We got a first look at these rooms over the summer, but we were thrilled to finally check these out in person!
Before we even get to the inside of the room though, let’s check out the hallway areas, as the theming truly starts there.
In the hallways leading to the refurbished rooms, you’ll find some bright red and orange carpet with a variety of circles and other shapes, giving it a futuristic but still colorful look.
The hallways are also lined with new artwork featuring the famous super family from The Incredibles!
As you’re walking to your room, you may pass by artwork of Mr. Incredible…
…Mrs. Incredible (Elastigirl)…
…and more.
And yes, those are monorails featured in some of the artwork!
Disney had previously noted that the rooms would “blend a sleek Monorail motif with some favorite characters from Pixar Animation Studios’ “Incredibles” films,” and it seems that theme is carried out throughout the hallway spaces as well.
The artwork features more of those shapes and sharp angles built into them, mixing futuristic design with vibrant color schemes. Along the hallway, you’ll also find stripes of colors, very much in the shape of a monorail stripe.
Once you’ve made your way down the hallway and over to your room, it’s time to check out the Incredible theming inside.

We’ll start with the closet. From the outside, it might look relatively typical, though that vibrant red on the doors hint at the fun details inside.
When you open up the closet doors, you’ll find a fantastically themed space!
There’s the typical space for you to hang your clothes, hangars, a place for you to rest your luggage, and some storage space. But, most importantly there’s amazing theming showing the super suits and shoes of the members of The Incredibles sharing the closet space with your own clothes!
And don’t forget to look on the top part of the closet! That’s where you’ll find images of the Incredibles’ eyewear and gloves. These details built into the room make the space really fun.
Opening up the closet doors to reveal the details hidden behind makes for a really fun moment.
In the closet space, you’ll also find an extra pillow/blanket…
…and a steamer.
The room also features a safe…
…a blow dryer, and more storage space.
Our room also came with some water…
…as well as a bin for ice.
The theming behind this space is fun as you see the silhouettes of more drinks and bottles behind the real ones in the room.
If you’re a big coffee fan, you’ll be happy to know the room has a coffee area with a Keurig machine…
…as well as coffee cups, coffee pods, sugar, and creamer.
And yes, those are 50th Anniversary Joffrey’s Coffee cups! Even if you’re not staying at a Disney World resort, you can buy the special 50th Anniversary blend of Joffrey’s coffee in a regular pouch or as K-Cups in Disney World, so be sure to look for that.
We especially love the theming by the coffee bar, which features references to the film, including a mug with Edna Mode’s signature hair and the word “mode.” What other easter eggs and details do you spot?
Next we’ll move to the bathroom. Here’s where you really see some of that monorail theming really come in.
There’s a fun monorail design featured on the mirror in the bathroom.
The bathroom also features 2 sinks, several towels, Disney’s signature H2O+ bathroom products, and a good amount of storage space under the sinks.
Next to the sinks is a shower/tub combo.
This space features more of those fan-favorite H2O+ products (these are locked into the wall)…
…and 2 shower heads.
There is a toilet area in the bathroom in one corner. This space features the toilet…
…as well as several towels.

— Disney Food Blog (@DisneyFoodBlog) September 28, 2021
There’s also some artwork in this space showing the many talents and versions of Jack-Jack, including a Jack-Jack dressed as Edna Mode!
And finally, we get to the main room space!
In the room you’ll find 2 beds on elevated platforms. There’s plenty of space underneath the beds for storage of your backpacks, luggage, etc. And the angled legs give it a retro/modern feel.
The beds have a grey backboard behind them…
…and pillows that feature the Incredibles’ masks in a variety of colors.
The beds themselves are quite plain in terms of their comforters and pillows — both just white in color. But the pillows add that small pop of color.
Near the beds you’ll find chargers — both traditional and USB ports — making it easy to charge your phones, cameras, etc. right next to your bed as you’re getting ready to sleep.
One of our favorite details in the room are the lamps that sit between the beds!
These lamps again feature that monorail design, combining the Incredibles theme with the Contemporary’s focus on the monorail.
Between the beds you’ll find a central nightstand.
Even if you never store anything in the nightstand at all, this is one feature you’ll want to open!
When you open the drawer for the nightstand, you’ll find some adorable details, including images of a to-do list, a familiar math book, cookie crumbles, sunglasses, and a very special remote!
On the side of the room opposite the beds, you’ll find a TV, a couch, and some tables.
And peep that futuristic looking lamp in the corner!
The lamp has such a fun design, adding again to that sort-of modern yet retro design.
The couch itself folds down so it can be utilized as another sleeping space in the room.
That is a nice added feature for those traveling with a larger group.
To one side of the couch, you’ll find a small table with the remote for the TV, details about Disney’s enhanced hotel cleaning process, and more.
Underneath the table is an ottoman you can pull out for additional seating in the room.
In the room, you’ll also find a trash and recycling bin…
…the temperature controls for the room…
…and a mini fridge with a nice clear front so you can store your items and keep them cool.
Moving on to the window and balcony space, the unique curvature of the opening here really adds to that retro-futuristic vibe that permeates throughout the entire space.
On the heavier curtain, you’ll find images in red and grey of Jack-Jack…
…Dash…
…Frozone, and more.
On the lighter curtain behind it, there are circles that contain the Incredibles logo…
…and more images of this fun super hero family!
Ready to step out onto the balcony? Well, if you’re looking to enjoy some fresh air, you can open the large sliding door and step out into this space.
There are some chairs and a small table on the balcony.
It’s the best place to sit back, relax, and just enjoy the view!
What do you think? Is this an incredible room transformation? According to Disney, all 9 floors of the guest rooms in the tower are being completely refurbished. Once the tower guest rooms are complete, work is set to begin on the rooms inside the Garden Wing out on the shore of Bay Lake.

The rooms used to have a full size table and chair next to the beds. Now it looks like there’s just room for the 2 beds and then no other space. Why do the rooms look so much smaller? Did they take away some of the length of the room for some reason? They were so spacious before and now just look completely cramped.

Please explain to me how a monorail and an Incredibles theme go together. That room has such a clash of styles, I couldn’t stay there for more than a few minutes.

No Thanks ! Love a modern theme… but…who picks this style?? This is very UGLY…cheap looking, not classy & too bright ….Yuck !!
Hope they don’t ruin BLT ??!!

I always loved staying at the contemporary resort…the new rooms look great, I hope they still have the tv’s built into the bathroom mirrors… now that is cool, or should I say Incredible….
DanielleV says
I am so happy to see these changes!
DFB Sarah says
Ken, I see what you did there…
Chris says
I think it looks like a value resort and not one of the flagship luxury resorts. I rarely complain about room upgrades or anything for that matter, but I think this is a misstep.
Trudy says
You might as well stay at art of animation or all stars. It’s cartoons and very cheaply done. I hate it. If you check out the rest of the deluxe hotels, they are tastefully done.!!!
Steve says
Love it. The Contemporary has been my White Whale since I was an 8 year-old in 1979. This is perfect. No Incredibles slander should be allowed!
Vicki Daley says
We stayed there in Sept and loved it. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was huge with a huge walk in shower. The view of the park is what we paid for though.
