EPCOT is currently undergoing a HUGE transformation.
It includes new restaurants, stores, neighborhoods, and attractions. We’ve been crossing our fingers extra-tight that we would hear more information about the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind thrill ride coming to EPCOT as part of the transformation, and boy oh boy do we have some thrilling news to share with you!
We were able to get a special sneak peek of the upcoming attraction!
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will be located in the World Discovery neighborhood of EPCOT, specifically in the former location of the Universe of Energy. It has been under construction for quite some time, so it’s even more exciting to finally get some updates today!
We got to go inside the ride, but couldn’t take any pictures, so we’re going to paint a picture for you! We only saw half of the the full attraction and — we cannot emphasize this enough — IT. IS. HUGE!!!! Like, MASSIVE. Imagineers told us that the building is technically one story (probably because it’s one big room), but it realistically looks to be the height of a something closer to a 4 story building!
We saw mostly the track of the ride inside, which, again, is GINORMOUS. At one point, the track goes through a large set piece that’s full of pinks and purples to make it look like a galaxy.
Then, we saw a VERY large sphere structure that looks similar to a planet, or like a big moon. It had texture and crater-like divots, but was completely black, so we’re guessing there will be projections used on it. If you want a reference for how big this planet thing is, think Mars in front of Mission: SPACE size!
We saw the ride with the lights on, so we’re sure it’ll look different in the dark with lighting and effects, but the track looked pretty complete to us! Although, more set pieces could always be added. The track has a bunch of twists and turns, but we didn’t see any loops or inversions. Imagineers emphasized that this is a “family friendly cosmic adventure.”
The ride is an omnicoaster, which means the ride vehicle will spin a full 360 degrees on the track while traveling at high speeds. They also said this is one of the longest indoor rollercoasters in the WORLD! However, Imagineers did not share any info on a possible opening date.
The story of Cosmic Rewind is that the planet of Xandar is bringing the first intergalactic world pavilion to EPCOT! But, you will be flying through space with the Guardians of the Galaxy, so you never know what you’ll encounter.
We simply cannot wait to ride it for ourselves when it opens at EPCOT! Be sure to follow along for even more exciting updates and announcements on the upcoming ride!

Did the ride vehicles seem to be plus sized friendly?
DFB Sarah says
Hi, Amber. We weren’t able to get into a vehicle to get a direct sense of the sizing. They seem to be a fairly standard size with an adjustable lap bar. When we eventually ride, we will get a better sense and report on it. We will also update our ride vehicle/seat photos page with images at that time.

Any guess on how fast it goes. Dark, fast, spinning is not a good combo for me…

When does the DFG 2022 come out?
DFB Sarah says
Katherine, we’re working on it now with a goal of sending it out in early-January.

Looks like it goes at a relatively quick pace by the look of the banked curves….puke for sure…
