Quite a few changes have been made at several of Disney World’s hotels recently.
Guest rooms at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort have received a Moana-inspired makeover. The rooms at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge have received an update, and some rooms at Disney’s Contemporary Resort have been re-themed to the Incredibles. Now, we’ve got a FIRST LOOK at some new rooms that will be coming to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa!
Earlier this year, Disney announced that BIG room changes would be coming to the Grand Floridian. Specifically, Disney shared that they would be converting one building of hotel rooms into Disney Vacation Club Villas. Starting in spring 2022, Big Pine Key is set to be transformed into 200 Resort Studios, which will open in summer 2022.
Disney has also announced that certain renovations and enhancements will be taking place at the Disney Vacation Club villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. These renovations are set to start in November at the Grand Floridian.
Today, Disney shared a first look at the brand NEW Disney Vacation Club Resort Studios and a sneak peek at the renovated villas that will be coming to the resort.
We’ll start with the studios. According to Disney, the resort studios will feature all kinds of special features like “quartz countertops, ornate crown molding, and luxury patterned tile.” There will also be “a flat-screen TV, a beverage center with a beverage cooler and coffee maker, and a gleaming bathroom with marble tile floors and a combo bath/shower.” These rooms will have 2 queen-size beds and a day bed.
When it comes to the deluxe studios, these will accommodate up to 5 individuals and feature a new pull-down queen-size bed that tucks away into the wall, a queen-size bed, and a pull-down bunk-size bed.
The deluxe studios will also have a full split bathroom, a kitchenette, a small refrigerator, a microwave, a coffeemaker, and a flat-panel TV.
One and two-bedroom villas will be getting a new look and some enhancements as well.
One and two-bedroom villas feature “full kitchens and large living areas…stainless steel appliances, a farmhouse sink, granite countertops, seeded glass door cabinets, a washer and dryer, and more.”
Here’s a peek at the kitchen area for a 1-bedroom villa.
A 1-bedroom villa sleeps up to 5 (king-size bed, pull-down queen-size bed, and a pull-down bunk-size bed).
A 2-bedroom villa sleeps up to 9 and feature “a king-size bed, two queen-size beds, a pull-down queen-size bed, and a pull-down bunk-size bed.”
Looking to go even bigger? The 3-bedroom grand villas sleep up to 12 guests and feature all of the same amenities as the 2-bedroom villas.
Here’s a peek at the living room area for the 3-bedroom grand villas.
According to Disney, “Three-bedroom grand villas feature a spacious dining area, and a lavish living room with a large, flat-panel TV, home theater system, and an additional queen-size sleeper sofa.”
Throughout the rooms you’ll find accents including Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse as Victorian-themed silhouettes. There will also be artwork from Mary Poppins and Dumbo.
According to the Disney Vacation Club, throughout 2022 all room types across Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa are set to receive a refurbished update for guests to enjoy.
We’ll keep an eye out for more details about these refurbishments and we’ll let you know what we find.

The new studios do not appear to be well designed. There is no desk/table with chairs. Also, the only seating area doesn’t face the tv for viewing.

Looks nice…

We are Grand Floridian Villa DVC members and this looks terrible! Sea foam green?! The beauty is just gone! This Villa is Traditional not Contemporary. Kate is right, so cold looking right now
L says
Any chance they will be renovating regular hotel rooms within the next year as well? I feel like they are in more need of renovation than the DVC rooms are.
DFB Sarah says
L, I don’t believe I’ve heard that this is the plan, but we will certainly report if/when info comes out.

I’ve tried booking a trip for early March 2022, and there is no availability at either the Contemporary or the GF. There is very limited room at the Polynesian. Is there an event, or perhaps broader refurbishment? We stay at the GF every year and have never run into this issue.
DFB Sarah says
Christina, I’m not sure if there’s any specific reason. I’ll share your question with the team.

We are DVC members. I also had great difficulty booking our annual 7 night stay this year. We only got 5 nights and had to piece them together. It was the same week we have always gone (7 years now). We spoke to a DVC rep at the Grand Floridian and they said to contact someone because we should not have such difficulty booking. I’m hoping there is not a similar issue with 2022. We also were woken up everyday at 7 am by the construction above us. Definitely not the best stay we have had at GF !! 😡
