Hello from Disney World, where we’re celebrating the start of the resort’s 18-month-long 50th Anniversary Celebration 🎉!
And we’re doing EVERYTHING we can today: eating all the snacks, checking out all the new merchandise, watching the new character cavalcade, viewing the TWO new nighttime shows, and more! And we’re not alone, because we’ve got a lot of fellow Disney World fans celebrating with us!
In case you missed it, it’s a busy day at Disney World, especially at Magic Kingdom. And, well, it’s so busy today that we saw the park reach capacity for the first time in a LONG TIME. Our team has actually not experienced Magic Kingdom hitting capacity since before the closures due to the pandemic.
When we looked on My Disney Experience this afternoon, we got this pop-up message telling us that the Park Hopper is temporarily unavailable for Magic Kingdom.
We also called the Walt Disney World Park Hopping capacity hotline phone number and heard a recorded message saying, “We’re experiencing a very busy day at WDW Resort and the Park Hopper option is no longer available for Magic Kingdom Park.”
It went on to say, “We invite guests who have a ticket or annual pass with park hopper benefits to visit Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, or Animal Kingdom, which are currently available for park hopper access.” So, you CAN still park hop to the other 3 Disney World parks! The message also mentioned that Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park is available.
It’s not like we didn’t expect this — it’s a big day at Magic Kingdom. You only turn 50 once, right? Park hopping could open back up for Magic Kingdom later today if the crowds thin out a little. So, we’ll keep you updated! As always, we’ll continue to cover all the 50th anniversary celebration goings-on and keep you updated, so stay tuned!

While Magic Kingdom turned into a Wal-Mart on black Friday with pushing and showing, Epcot was better prepared. We entered a 100 person line at 2PM that took 10 minutes. People were respectful and there were racks of 50 tee shirts, spirit jerseys and stadium jackets organized by size. Guess we’ll find out how Magic Kingdom is tomorrow.
