We’re at Disney World checking out a bunch of the food for the 50th anniversary!
While there are SO many things to look forward to today like new shows, entertainment, fireworks, decor, and more, we’re excited about the food (shocking, we know)! There are over 150 new treats to celebrate 50 years of Disney World and 3 of them are located at one of our favorite quick service spots!
We’re talking about Flame Tree Barbecue over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Not only does this spot offer some awesome barbecue, but there is a new drink AND meal here! We tried both, so let’s talk about them!
We’re starting with the non-alcoholic drink called the EARidescent Firefly for $8.49.The drink is made with pineapple juice, Powerade Mountain Berry Blast, a splash of Sprite, and garnished with pineapple “ears.” AND it comes with a glow cube. Although this drink was super sweet, it also had a nice tartness to it.
It’s almost too sweet, though, but if you love sweet drinks, you’ll probably dig this one. But we think maybe this should’ve had an alcoholic version — a little alcohol could have tamed down all that sweetness a bit. But we still love the Pineapple EARS! (Although this was a dried pineapple and not at all what we were expecting!)
Next up is the Smoked Meatloaf Platter! The platter is supposed to include barbecue-glazed house-smoked meatloaf, garlic bread, fries, baked beans, and coleslaw for $13.99. Or at least that’s what it’s SUPPOSED to include. What we got for sides was fries, macaroni and cheese, and baked beans. Not sure what happened there, but we’re not complaining!!
So here’s the thing — our reporter isn’t a huge meatloaf fan, but still found this meatloaf very enjoyable. Â And the sides were also all delicious. I mean you can’t really go wrong with fries and mac and cheese, right?! So if you ARE a meatloaf fan, put this platter on your “must try” list!
Well, if you weren’t planning to stop by Flame Tree Barbecue before, you definitely should now! You can have a FULL meal with special 50th anniversary food at this location, which we can’t say for a lot of Disney World restaurants! We’ll continue giving you our honest reviews of the specialty eats around Disney World, so stay tuned for more!
