With Disney World’s 50th Anniversary celebrations taking over the Most Magical Place on Earth, it’s easy to forget that Halloween is just around the corner!
But, today is October 1st, meaning Halloween is just a few weeks away and Disney World is not letting us forget it! We’ve already had lots of Halloween treats. But, today we went to check out a special NEW Halloween treat at Disney’s Contemporary Resort!
Over at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, we found a colorful new Halloween Mini Cake at Contempo Cafe.
This treat is made of a Halloween sprinkle cake that is meant to be filled with candy bar custard and topped with dark chocolate glaze. We’ll start by saying this cake is absolutely gorgeous. There’s no denying that. The orange color is wonderfully bright and the decorations on top are absolutely adorable. The pumpkin in the center is made out of fondant, while the remaining decorations (save for the chocolate swirls and sprinkles) are made of buttercream.
It’s definitely a cake that’s worthy of a few photos on your Instagram feed (or just in your phone because it’s CUTE)! In fact, we think this is probably the 1 (or at least the main) reason why you might want to grab this cake.
But, in terms of taste, it was not that impressive. The cake is basically a take on some of the standard celebration cakes that have been available at Contempo Cafe in the past. The cake itself was a funfetti cake and the buttercream was pretty thin.
Overall, it was (unfortunately) kind-of boring flavor-wise. We think it’s a good choice for kiddos who are looking for a simple cake without any really big flavors. And it’s undeniably an adorable addition for your Instagram feed. But, in terms of actual flavor, we just didn’t find much there to really blow us away.
The cake was described as having a candy bar custard that we were really excited about, but unfortunately what we got was just a small shot of what tasted (to us) like a vanilla custard. We really didn’t get any candy bar flavors in there.
Who knows? You might get a cake that features more of the custard and perhaps a version of it that has more of that candy bar taste, but the version we got today didn’t really have that.
If you’re looking for a basic treat that doesn’t have too much in terms of unique flavors but is beautiful and worthy of some Instagram photos, then this could be a good choice. If you’re looking for a more flavorful dessert though, we’d suggest you opt for the German Chocolate Cupcake here instead!
If you want to grab the Halloween cake, you can snag it right now at Contempo Cafe for $5.99. We’re on the lookout for more Halloween news all over Disney World, so be sure to check back with us for more details!
