There are a lot of new treats, merchandise, and experiences coming to Disney World for the 50th Anniversary Celebration.
We’ve already seen some of the new things, but what about the things that aren’t going to be available then? Let’s take a look at everything that’s going to be CLOSED in Disney World next week.
Luckily for us, there are not a lot of scheduled closures for Disney World next week, so you can plan on most of your favorite rides, attractions, and hotels being open for your vacation! There are just a few things that you need to know about before you head into the parks.
Magic Kingdom Refurbishments
At the Magic Kingdom, only one attraction is going to be closed next week: the Walt Disney World Railroad.
This attraction has been closed for a while, and it’s going to remain closed at least through November (which is as far as the refurbishments calendar goes right now).
The railroad can’t run at the moment because construction on the TRON roller coaster in Tomorrowland interrupted the tracks over there. We haven’t heard any updates on when TRON construction will be finished, but we’re assuming that when it does finally end the railroad will be back.
When Could TRON Be Finished In Disney World?
We’d like to congratulate the Main Street Confectionery for making it off this list and reopening in the Magic Kingdom recently!
You can head in now to get some tasty classics and try some new treats (like that snazzy custom popcorn wall!).
That’s it for the parks, so now let’s head to the Disney World hotels.
Disney World Hotels Refurbishments
Speaking of things that are coming off our refurbishments list, Disney’s Contemporary Resort finished up a LOT of construction recently. The lobby area is complete…
…the new Incredibles rooms were revealed…
…and we’ve been eaten at the new Steakhouse 71 restaurant!
If you’re hoping to eat at Steakhouse 71 too, check out our first look and then make your reservations ASAP.
You’ll still see construction walls over at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort lobby, as improvements are being made to the front desk area. But you can still check-in like normal at the other desks.
Over at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort, the lobby is getting a makeover too. You can follow the signs and Cast Members to a temporary check-in area, or you can check in on your My Disney Experience app and head straight into your room.
Disney’s Port Orleans – French Quarter Resort and the Port Orleans – Riverside Resort are both still closed, but they’ll be reopening soon.
Riverside is reopening on October 14th, and French Quarter will be back on October 28th.
Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort was going to reopen on December 9th, but its return has been delayed indefinitely. Cast Members told us the delay was due to more refurbishments inside the hotel.
And that’s all the planned closures for Disney World next week! Keep following DFB, because we’ll bring you all of the 50th Anniversary news from Disney World.

I think the port orleans dates are flipped there. Doesn’t French quarter open last?
DFB Sarah says
Nick, I’ll have an editor revisit the dates. Thanks for reaching out!
