Disney World’s 50th Anniversary brought a LOT of new and delicious snacks to the parks and resorts.
We tried sparkly Dole Whips, GIANT ice cream sundaes, lots of classic treats that got 50th-themed updates, and so much more. Basically, our tongues were VERY blue from all of the treats we tried. There’s one delicious treat that you won’t find in the four theme parks at Disney World, and it’s got a bonus feature: there’s no blue dye involved at all!
We found this tasty treat at Cape May Café, which is located at Disney’s Beach Club Resort.
If you’re not staying at this resort but still want to visit the café, you can get there easily from EPCOT or Disney’s Hollywood Studios — the resort is within walking distance of both these parks. You can also make a reservation for this restaurant and travel to this spot from your own hotel or the other parks.
We visited Cape May Café for breakfast, which is where we found the new Beach Buns. Breakfast here is served family style. The all-you-can-eat menu features omelets, yogurt parfaits, and a hot breakfast platter. There used to be a pastry basket to start the meal, but now there’s the new Beach Buns instead.
We won’t lie — we miss the old pastries a bit. We’re not sure if or when the other pastries will return, but in the meantime, the new bread is nothing to be sad about!
This new bread is a salted caramel pull-apart bread, topped with a cinnamon streusel. The bread reminded us a lot of coffee cake, especially since it’s topped with the cinnamon streusel. Unlike some coffee cakes we’ve had, the bread was pretty doughy, with a very stretchy consistency. We definitely prefer a soft, moist texture to crumbly or dry bread, so we really enjoyed that.
The salted caramel seemed to be mainly an addition to the streusel, rather than to the bread itself, so you got the most salted caramel flavor by taking a bite of the top part. Overall, this bread was really good and we enjoyed it a lot!
If you prefer a simpler pastry or just more variety though, you might have preferred the old pastry basket that used to come with breakfast here. So keep that in mind as you’re making your reservations!
You can find the new Beach Buns as part of Cape May Café’s breakfast right now. This is a table service meal, so just be sure to factor that into your plans. This spot usually features characters during select meal times, but the characters have not returned to it yet.

These look to be the Parker House Rolls they serve over at Yacht Club’s Ale & Compass now all dressed for breakfast. They do look tasty, but we really liked the pastry basket with a nice variety of very good pastries. I must say, though, these buns are easier to share, because the pastry basket had only one of each different pastry we had to split between the two of us. Instead of each tasting different ones, we split every one for us both to try them all. It was fun but messy.
