After over a year, Disney Cruises have recently started to sail again, including the Disney Dream and Disney Wonder. And soon, the Disney Fantasy will be setting sail again.
And although things have changed onboard due to the ongoing global health crisis and small updates have been made to the dining process, guests with plans to take a Disney Cruise soon might have questions about character experiences on the ship.
Disney has stated that although traditional meet and greets with characters are currently suspended, guests will still have plenty of ways to interact with characters onboard. Disney Cruise Line promises many “fun character sightings” including Goofy appearing in the Walt Disney Theatre, princesses in the atrium greeting guests, and the Green Army Patrol on the upper decks. Characters “will appear in unexpected places aboard the ship.”
Guests can also expect to see characters on Castaway Cay!
Characters will also appear during certain meals, including Enchanted Garden, where Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto will appear. On the Disney Dream, guests will be able to greet the princesses in Royal Palace on the Disney Dream and Royal Court on the Disney Fantasy. On cruises longer than four nights, pirates will take over all dining rooms for Pirates Night.
All guests will need to know the current health and safety guidelines before boarding a Disney Cruise. This includes requirements for COVID-19 vaccines or testing prior to embarking.

Does “sightings” mean still socially distanced? No hugs for the kids?
DFB Sarah says
Ashley, that seems to be correct.
Jessica says
We are going on a Marvel Day at Sea cruise in February. Maybe a little early to ask, but does this look like a similar situation? Just character sightings?
DFB Sarah says
Jessica, it’s just too far away (and way too much time for things to change multiple times!) to guess. Hopefully you’ll get more than just the sightings, but we’ll have to wait and see what they do.
