We’ve got some important news about how YOU watch TV and movies.
Streaming has become a major focus of the Walt Disney Company with services Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ all falling under its umbrella. As the sector continues to grow, we’ve seen price jumps for BOTH ESPN+ and Disney+. Hulu announced that it would soon be following suit, and that day has arrived.
Hulu’s price increase goes into effect TOMORROW, October 8th, and affects both the with-ads and no-ads tiers of the service.
The basic version (with ads) will increase from $5.99 per month to $6.99 per month. The premium version (no ads) will increase from $11.99 per month to $12.99 per month.
The price increase will not affect pricing on the Disney bundle which includes Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu for $13.99 per month (add $6 per month for no-ads Hulu). The price will also not change for Hulu Live TV.
As a reason for the price increase, Disney noted that the service now has several Bollywood titles and Hotstar originals. The company reported almost 174 million total subscribers across Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ this summer according to Deadline News, so streaming remains in demand.
