Disney Genie launched in Disney World yesterday, and we tested out all of the new features.
There is the free Genie, which helps you plan your day in the parks, and there is also Genie+, which costs $15 per day, per person and has replaced the FastPass+ system in Disney World. There are also individual rides that you can pay to skip the line of using the Lightning Lane (old FastPass+ lane). These include 2 high-demand rides in each park and they vary in price, which can also change based on demand. These rides can also sell out of their Lightning Lane passes for the day, which has already happened to one ride in Disney World today!
Rise of the Resistance in Hollywood Studios has yet again sold out of Individual Lightning Lane passes for the rest of the day.
This happened yesterday as well. The Individual Lightning Lane passes go on sale to Disney hotel guests starting at 7AM and go on sale to other guests at park open, which was at 9AM today. Yesterday and today, the passes for Rise of the Resistance were sold out by around 10AM.
So, if you definitely want a Lightning Lane for Rise of the Resistance, make sure you make it a priority in the morning before it possibly sells out! Rise of the Resistance’s Lightning Lane is $15 per person, as of right now. Otherwise, you’ll have to wait in the standby line to get on the ride.

The LL for the Rise will ultimately look like a stand by line, causing people to wait at least 30 minutes, for a paid ride ? Something is wrong here. Disney needs to figure out what to do for rides that go down a lot throughout the day.

You wrote, in part “The Individual Lightning Lane passes go on sale to Disney hotel guests starting at 7AM and go on sale to other guests at park open. . . ”
It would be interesting to know if “Disney hotel guests” includes registered guests at Shades of Green.
Grandma and I have taken our Grandson to WDW/SoG 4 times (2007, 2009, 2012 & 2014), driving (1380 miles one-way) through the night from Green Bay WI. Now that he’s a Junior in high school, he’s scheduled to preform with his high school orchestra (choir and band) and do a recording session at Disney Preforming Arts at the Disney Imagination Campus. Of course, Grandma and I want to drive down again, and make a vacation out of the opportunity. With all the changes and and proposed changes, it almost sounds like skipping the 9 days at WDW would be the better plan.
Grandma and I are both Navy Veteran’s (she served 16-years, I served 30), but it’s beginning to sound as though the PLEASURE of staying at SoG would be totally off-set/wasted by trying to get into the parks, restaurants, shops. Maybe by June 2022 it will be different/better.

Well from Disney’s POV Lightning Lane is working (figure around 1000 slots potential 15k a day). At least now you have a “better” chance to ride Rise. The virtual queue system was a nightmare. If given the choice between waiting in line for about 2 hours or $15, I could see spending the $15.

Done with Disney.
Went there Feb. 2020.
Had the best time of our lives.
Our family has been going to WDW since 1972.
All Therese new changes with the Genie and having to pay extra for rides is disgraceful-and limited park hopping makes it worse.
Sounds like one big mess.

Guess I will not be sleeping in on our Hollywood Studios days.
Thanks for the heads-up!

Jim, Shades of Green is included in all of the Resort-related “perks” like being able to purchase Individual Attraction Selections starting at 7AM. It’s certainly a new era in planning a Disney World vacation; hopefully you’ll be able to enjoy another trip with your grandson despite all the changes. Whether you go to the Parks or not, congratulations to your grandson on his accomplishments with his orchestra!
