Disney Genie launched earlier this week, and we’ve been spending that time trying out everything we can with the service so we can help you use it to optimize your next Disney World trip.
And we’ve done our best to answer any questions you may have, both about the free version of the service (available through the My Disney Experience app) and how best to use Genie+ and the Individual Attraction Selection (aka pay-per-ride).
We’ve also covered some of the prices we’ve seen for the Individual Attraction Selections, but today, as we go into the weekend, we’re seeing these prices increase (which is expected as we understand that these prices are dependent on demand).
Here’s what the prices were for Individual Attraction Selections earlier this week:
- Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure: $9
- Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway: $8
- Rise of the Resistance: $15
- Space Mountain: $7
- Seven Dwarves Mine Train: $10
- Frozen Ever After: $9
- Flight of Passage: $11
- Expedition Everest: $7
Here are the prices we’re seeing today:
- Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure: $11
- Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway: $10
- Rise of the Resistance: $15
- Space Mountain: $9
- Seven Dwarves Mine Train: $12
- Frozen Ever After: $11
- Flight of Passage: $14
- Expedition Everest: $7
As you can see, most prices went up $2, except for Flight of Passage, which increased by $3. However, prices for Rise of the Resistance and Expedition Everest remained the same.
We’ll continue to monitor the prices for the Individual Attraction Selections at Disney World, and report back what we see! Stay tuned to DFB for more!

So basically WDW found out very quickly that a large percentage of guests have excess money in their pockets and have no problem paying to cut the lines. Something this guest has been saying for the last 5-10 years!! Thing is… when more people would rather pay, WDW runs out of time slots too quickly. So what does a smart business do?… raise prices! See what level you can reach until people stop paying for it in abundance.
Funny how the 2 oldest and least popular rides are the cheapest. Seems about right. I wouldn’t pay or wait in line for Space Mountain or Everest at this point in history. But as we all know… once Tron opens, goodbye Space Mountain and once something new and shiny opens in AK, bye bye Everest.
Mark Plante says
My family has been going to Disney every year in February for the past 15 years. With this new pricing increase, it is a price increase, we will not be going there in 2022. Looks like Universal and SeaWorld now have my business, if they do not get greedy too!
Donald says
As you know, WDW charges different prices for admission on different days. Is there a correlation between higher IAS prices on days when the admission price is also increased?
Also, you’ve noted surge pricing changing day to day. But have you noticed surge pricing changing during the time in the park, either up or down?
J.R. says
The parks are busier on the weekend and wait times for rides and attractions are longer so Disney can get away with surge pricing because plenty of people will pay for it (Captain Obvious says). I wonder what the surge pricing will be like during Christmas week when we won’t be there.
Just be glad that they don’t attach surge pricing to food and souvenirs. Oops that might be next.
Mark Schmidt says
There is something fundementally wrong with paying a admission price to the park and then paying more for certain rides.
So much for middle class budget families with kids……
Roz says
People DoNot pay to ride anything ! If you don’t do it and it’s a failure they will have no choice but to abandon this absolute ludicrous money grubbing idiotic thing known as “Genie”. Keep your money in your pocket to spend on something else !! Just saying
Don Andrews says
I really enjoy the disney food blogs. Keeps me updated to what’s happening at Disney. But I think that Disney’s greed for money has turned me off to Disney. Cutting back on attractions, & raising the cost for everything. I think I will pass on the next trip to Disney. I can see all the attractions on you-tube and doesn’t cost me a penny.
Jo says
Plus tax too.
Mmmm – dread to imagine Christmas week.
Kay says
Everyone just needs to NOT use it
Ralph says
This should be interesting to find out if last. I’m betting it does.
Terry Downing says
As an international DVC member since 1992 and WDW visitor since 1988 I have to say that the withdrawal of “Included” in ticket fast pass and replaced with Genie plus Pay per ride lightening lanes is DISGUSTING. We spend 3 weeks on Disney property with annual passes. I have always said that the price is irrelevant as long as you feel you have had a good time. However, this is a pure rip off where basically the ticket price is just to pay for expensive fast food and merchandise. Bob Chapek, I hope your attention is brought to the negative feeling you are replacing the Disney magic with.
Ray says
Disgraceful
Ira says
Why do I bother posting? This DFB posting system is total nonsense.
Every time I post…every single time…I input my information and click to get informed about all subsequent posts. I post very mellow stuff, nothing bad or inflammatory.
But not one time has any of my stuff posted, nor did I ever get an alert about subsequent posts.
What is going on here!?
John says
Seems to me that Disney could raise more money by going back to having visitors purchase those booklets from the 50’s and 60’s. Everybody would use the E-Tickets and pass on the A- and B-Tickets. Thus visitors would be paying a premium opn the E-Ticket rides and Disney would pocket the profits from the left over A- and B-Tickets. Of course that presumes that people will continue going to Disney World and Disneyland at their price gouging efforts.
Jennifer says
Anyone who pays these extra fees is a fool.
Deborah P says
Thanks for the update! Glad that Rise does not go up.
VBW says
Disney Genie makes me sad.
Julie Shetler says
Walt will roll over in his grave, Disney is pricing most consumers out of the park. I was in Disney 2019 and 2012 and compared to the prices and experiences that I had in the 90’s and early 2000’s its getting ridiculous!!!!
Vincent says
Article might have been useful and helpful, but it is undated, so it is of no value to me.
SML says
This price gouging is outrageous! Disney should be ashamed. The Fast Pass rides were FREE, and now this! Shame on you Disney!
pattie says
When will this Money grabbing stop OMG that ruined us from ever going again bob chapek is the greed that’s running Disney n the ground have to pay just to walk the turn styles so can any one tell me the advantages of that what is that for repairs on walk and curbs board of directors do your job and fire him oh I forgot your getting your pockets filled too silly me
Arlene says
We don’t plan on using Disney Genie at all for our November trip. Disney has taken all of the fun out of going to Disney World. Starting with taking away the magical express, and now all you get for your park ticket or your annual pass is one foot into the park and that’s it. Now you have to pay for rides whereas fast pass used to be free. So just what does your park ticket cover? Nothing except getting you into the park where you can spend more money. So we are looking to go to Universal Studios next year instead of Disney World. What little magic there was left at Disney World is slowly dwindling away. And it has become more of a job to go there then an enjoyment. We are planning to spend our vacation dollars elsewhere next year. So sad.
Anthony says
I wish I could express myself in words. Outstanding.
Mike says
Not to Happy with the Genie Changes or Cost. A Disney Vaca requires Planning your day to capture the best experience, at least for us it doe’s, and the new Genie System is Counter to having much planning. Brink back the old FastPass !
Rhonda Warren says
yes, for at least 2 rides. It will keep me from waiting in line and seeing more things. Not as mobile as I once was and this will help me maximize my visit
Roxane says
Wait a minute.
Are you telling me that after you pay a crazy amount to get into the park you have to pay more to go on.the top attractions?
That is crazy!!!
We were there the Friday before Genie + went into affect & were glad because everyone had the same wait time to get on an attraction. We were able to get on
Christine says
So in short, they change the prices depending on how busy it is.
Ken says
Omg… you have got to be kidding, this on top of the $130 price tag to get in…. Incredible….
Lea says
We just left Disney World after a 7 day stay on property. We are annual passholders (have been for many years) and opted to use the lightening lanes for two rides – Ride of the Resistance at $15 each and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure: at $11 each. It infuriates us that we had to pay extra. Having said that, I was never able to land a virtual spot for ROTR in the numerous trips that we made to WDW in the past. My husband and I both really wanted to try the ride and it seemed that unless we were willing to stand in line for 2 hours or more, we had to pay for it. We opted to preclude this exasperating experience for Remy too,
Lots of people were using the Lightening Lanes, so I guess this will sadly continue well into the future.
DFB Sarah says
Roxane, Individual Attraction Selections offers the option to purchase a Lightning Lane pass to bypass the Standby line. It’s not required, though.
DFB Sarah says
Hi, Ira. I’m showing 12 approved posts for your log in info. If I don’t approve a comment that’s “mellow”, as you say, it’s probably that I didn’t get to it or somehow missed it unintentionally. I apologize if that’s been the case. As for the follow up on subsequent comments: I’m not sure why you wouldn’t be getting them, and I don’t have a way to dig into that.
Debbie says
This is not what Walt wanted. Disney is pricing the normal family out. Costs are ridiculous and charging for stuff like parking when you already booked a hotel and charging for riding. Rides. Stupid. Bob chapel needs to either resign or be fired. He’s out of his mind
Rich says
We in the UK have had something similar in place for years with places like Alton Towers and Thorpe Park charging extra for fast track £30.00 so about $42 for 4 rides as an entry, more options available, think being limited to 2 a day is good otherwise the richer amongst us would simply make in line waiting unbearable, coming over next year, still surprised there is no discount for those staying in disney hotels
doyne carson says
The Magic is gone, Walt’s dream is dissolving. We have been stock holders for 34 years and DVC members for 25. I am selling my stock…it is the only way I know to tell them how sad I am at their price gouging.
James Stevenson says
We have gone to Disney for years with our family and has always been something we’ve looked forward to, with the Magical express gone & all the price increases just to ride the rides we feel it is no longer affordable. The magic is gone, all I see is greed! We will be going somewhere else on our vacation, can’t tell you how sad it makes me!!
