If you’re planning to visit Disney World you’ve likely taken a number of steps to prepare — packed your bags, booked your hotel, made your Park Pass reservations, etc.
But there’s one big thing you definitely want to make sure you prepare for…the weather! The weather in Orlando can be hot and sunny, wet and rainy, and even surprisingly cold at times (and sometimes all 3 hit within a short period of time). If you’re planning to visit Disney World this week, we’ve got an important weather update for you.
According to FOX 35 Orlando, Central Florida could be in for some severe weather this week. FOX Orlando shares that a strong cold front is set to swing across East Central Florida this week on Thursday. The cold front will increase “the threat for strong to severe storms and possibly isolated tornadoes.”
The increasing moisture ahead of the cold front, in addition to the warm air, will reportedly create an environment that is “favorable for storm development.” The FOX 35 Storm Meteorologist, Kristin Giannas, has said, “Our main threats as this front moves over the state will be strong gusty winds, lightning definitely a possibility as well as an isolated tornado.”
The National Weather Service Melbourne, FL has also issued a warning about the potential for severe weather on Thursday, the 28th.
Once the front clears, the weekend weather is set to be quite nice, with highs in the 70s and lows overnight in the 50s and 60s. On Halloween morning, you could wake up to some cool weather, with the morning temperature set to be around 59 degrees in Orlando.
According to WFTV, Thursday isn’t the only day you’ll want to be prepared for. A cold front is also set to arrive later today (Tuesday), which will bring in some cooler temperatures.
Of course, the weather is subject to change. Still, if you’re planning to visit Orlando this week, be prepared in case you do encounter lots of rain and potentially some severe weather. We’ve got all kinds of resources to help you get ready:

Also remember in your plans, that when the weather gets bad and there is lightning, the Skyliner shuts down. Have alternate methods of getting around. Have a Plan B and even a Plan C.
This past weekend, a storm rolled through, shutting down the Skyliner. We walked to the Beach Club Resort where we tried to get a Lyft rideshare, but everyone else had the same idea, and there were no drivers available. So we hopped a bus to Animal Kingdom, and from there hopped another bus back to our hotel, Shades of Green.
Plan accordingly.
