The Disney World theme parks get a lot of attention, but another great spot to check out on your trip is Disney Springs!
Dining magic extends to Disney Springs
Disney Springs has a TON of food, shopping, and entertainment options. Forget to bring some athletic wear in your suitcase? There’s a store for that. Want to see the latest movies in theaters? You can do that, too! Hungry for some of the best food in Disney World? Disney Springs has got you covered! While there are many amazing table service restaurants at Springs, there are also some really great quick service spots! If you’re craving some barbecue, The Polite Pig is where it’s at — and they have a brand new food item you can check out!
The Polite Pig changes up its seasonal side throughout the year, and they just recently announced their latest dish! So, you know we had to go over to Disney Springs to taste it for ourselves. This is the BBQ Au Gratin!
Give us ALL the potatoes!
It’s potatoes with a cream sauce and smoked grated Gouda. Um, YUM! If this dish doesn’t scream fancy Thanksgiving side, we don’t know what does.

Oh yeah, and there’s a light garnish of greens on top, so this is healthy, right? Right.😉
Definitely counts as eating your vegetables in our book
These were SO DELICIOUS. The flavor is awesome — the smoked Gouda goes really well with the potatoes and that blended with the cream sauce gives it quite a satisfying texture.
Name a better combo than cheese and potatoes, we’ll wait
These potatoes are a great side if you’re looking for something hearty but small. It very much accomplished that comfort you can only get from cheesy potatoes.
Comfort food at its best
But, if you can’t have dairy, this is not for you! There is a lot of cream and cheese in this thing. Go with something like the crispy Brussel sprouts instead.
Definitely not vegan friendly
If you’re looking for a yummy comfort food and love cheese and potatoes, you should go check it out!

Remember, the BBQ Au Gratin is seasonal, so get it while you can! It $6 at The Polite Pig, as are all of the other sides. It’ll go great as a side with the fried chicken sandwich or low & slow brisket sandwich. When you’re done with those, you can top off your meal with a lovely buttermilk chess pie or one of their 50 bourbons at the Bourbon Bar.
