Well, it’s official — Disney Genie has launched at Disney World, and we have spent lots of time trying to figure out everything we could about it!
And we’ve covered everything we could think of, from how smart we think Disney Genie is to how many rides we can do in a day with Genie+ to the 120-minute rule. But we also asked YOU, our DFB readers, what you think about Genie and what it can do on Instagram.
Here’s what you said!
Which Disney Genie Feature Are You Most Likely To Use?
When we asked you about the Disney Genie feature you might want to actually use, we were surprised that the top answer was Disney Genie+ and pay-per-ride — over 3,500 of you agreed.
But it was also surprising how close it was between Disney Genie+ (2,734 votes) and Neither (2,841 votes), which kind of goes along with an earlier poll that revealed that about half of our readers wouldn’t pay for the additional features. Coming in last was the Premium Pay-Per-Ride Lightning Lanes feature only.
We’ve covered both as extensively as we can, but if you’re still confused, be sure to read our posts about Genie+ and Individual Attraction Selection!

At Which Park Will You Most Likely Use Disney Genie+
When it comes to the park where you’re most likely to use Disney Genie+, over 5,500 of our readers voted for Magic Kingdom first — and we get that — Magic Kingdom has SO many rides, so Genie+ might have a lot more value there. Disney’s Hollywood Studios came in second with over 3,800 votes.
This is almost in line with what we think, too! We definitely felt like we pushed Genie+ to the max at Magic Kingdom with the number of rides we managed to get on! Both EPCOT and Disney’s Animal Kingdom came in last from your answers.

At Which Park Would You Least Likely Use Disney Genie+?
Likewise, the park where you would least likely use Disney Genie+ is Disney’s Animal Kingdom (with 4,786 votes), followed by EPCOT (with 3,803 votes). Recently, ride lines haven’t really been that long at Animal Kingdom WITHOUT Genie+, and we’ve, more or less, seen the same at EPCOT.
After that, the rest of you answered Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom, in that order, which are the two parks our readers voted for where they might actually consider using Genie+.
Here’s A Look at Wait Times With Genie+ and Pay-Per-Ride in Disney World
So that’s what you think of Disney Genie and Disney Genie+ so far. And we’ll continue covering everything we can about the service so that you’ll have ALL the information you need to decide how you want to best use it!

Jane says
Hi please clarify…if park hopping how do you make park reservations? One for each park you plan to visit?
Thanks so much ❤️
DFB Sarah says
Jane, you do not need Park Pass reservations for the Park(s) you’re hopping to — just for the first Park of your day.
Ras says
I’ve been trying to use genie to pre-plan a trip next week. I’m an AP, a friend has 4-day pass (non hopping). We are staying at a deluxe resort. We have park reservations. We both show up on friends/family list, and all the other pertinent items on the inter array are set. So, in theory we should be good to go.
However, I can’t add my friend to a genie plan, and some days I can’t even pick myself (shows ineligible) I’ve reached out to cast members but no solution yet. I’m hoping it’s glitch they can get fixed soon.
I know when testing, you are many times going solo. Have you tried this feature, adding friends and using genie for pre planning? Have you, or other readers run into this issue?
Pris says
If you have park hopper do you have the option for either park for a dinner reservation? For example, if you have reservations for MK one day but hop to Epcot, can you leave Epcot later but come back for dinner at Rose & Crown or would a restaurant in MK be your only option?
Richard+Mercer says
So…. Magic Kingdom has so *many* rides that Genie+ might be useful, and Hollywood Studios has so *few* rides that Genie+ might be useful. OK…..
KC says
This Genie system is not worth it!
Melanie Durham says
And please help…with the DAS….are they still honoring it? I seem to remember a blog, not sure if it was yours, but it was saying there was a issue using the DAS! But when I read it, it said nothing about it.
DFB Sarah says
Pris, Advance Dining Reservations are not dependent on your Disney Park Pass or Park Hopping, so you can make a reservation wherever you’d like! The only condition Disney mentions is that if your ADR is at your Park Hopping Park, you’re not guaranteed entry if the crowds grow to capacity. However, we haven’t seen this be an issue.
Carol says
Definitely agree that Genie+ is worth it in MK. Also make sure to take advantage of the neat Disney Lens that comes with Genie+. That was a fun addition.
Won’t use Genie+ in the other parks. Will use the premium Lightening for Flight of Passage, Frozen, Remy and Runaway Railway, though. I’ve decided those 4 are worth it, albeit I resent having to pay extra for something that used to be a Fast Pass.
BTW- what’s all the fuss and rave about Jungle Cruise? We used Genie + for that yesterday and it was, by far, our longest wait- about 30 minutes- and it want even worth it! The ride itself “su**ed” and the forced humor and puns, now Christmas themed, totally fell flat. What a waste!
DFB Sarah says
Melanie, DAS works as it always has — but there are optional enhancements in My Disney Experience now. You can now pre-register via MDE with a video chat with a Cast Member. When you pre-register, you can also pre-book two DAS experiences per day of your trip. Also, when you are IN the Parks, you can now use MDE to schedule your DAS return times, one attraction at at time, right in the app rather than having to make your way to the attraction to get a return time from a Cast Member at the ride entrance. If all these digital options are not your cup of tea, you can still use DAS as in the past: registering in person at a Park, going to attractions to get your return times (one at a time, as always). Does this help clarify?
Melanie Durham says
Sarah,
Yes, thank you so much for clarifying the DAS with the genie+! I appreciate you help! 💜

I utilized Disney Genie+ yesterday for the 1st time at Epcot. I have a 10 year old son and it’s just him and I for reference. We purchased the lightning lane for 3 rides (Remy’s, Soarin and Frozen). We were very pleased with the help of Genie+ and even though it cost a bit more, lightning lane enabled us to complete all of wishes for the day. We stayed from 10am until 945pm, also for reference.
