A lot of people loved to use the Dining Plan on their Disney World vacations.
With the Disney Dining Plan, guests could basically pre-pay for their meals, drinks, and snacks by purchasing one of four different plans. Then during their vacation, guests would have “credits” to use for snacks, quick-service meals, and table-service meals. When Disney World reopened last year, they did not bring back the Dining Plan. So we asked all of you whether you thought the plan would return this year, and if not, when do you think it’ll come back?
We’re going to preface this by saying that Disney has announced that the Dining Plan will return sometime in the future. So although it’s not available now (and Disney hasn’t said when it will return), we’re expecting to see it again eventually.
It might not be soon, though, according to most of our readers. We asked you on Instagram whether you thought the Dining Plan would return this year, and 73% of you said “No!”
We also asked WHEN you thought it would return, since most people don’t think it’ll be this year. (Except for the 27% holding out hope — we’re hoping it’ll be soon, too!)
A lot of people are guessing that the plan will return in 2022. One reader said “After the holidays.”
Another reader speculated that it’ll return “right before summer crowds of 2022.”
A couple of people thought it would be much longer, with one person guessing the plan will be brought back “after the 50th.” Since the 50th Anniversary celebrations will be running for 18 months, that means the Dining Plan wouldn’t start until the Spring of 2023.
Although some people said it would “never” come back, we know that the plan is going to return, as per Disney’s statement this past summer. So never fear — you’ll be able to stack those snack credits again, we just don’t know when yet.
And a few readers expressed how much they want the plan to come back. One said, “Hopefully by my next vacation!” And then another took it to the next level: “IDK, but I’m not coming back until it does!”
We’ll be sure to let you know as soon as we hear when the Disney Dining Plan is returning. In the meantime, keep following DFB for more tips on how to save money during your Disney World vacation.

Simple really. The dining plans will only return when Disney figures out to squeeze more money out per person and make it look like a great deal. Period.
Brian Jones says
Who cares, it hasn’t been worth the cost in years!
Donna says
Come on Disney bring back the dinning plan or give us a deal on our resort.
gillian says
Well fingers crossed this will return soon hopefully in 2022 as its very handy especially for big families
Jeff M says
I hope it comes back. People talk about whether the dining plan is worth it and all that. But, I find it useful because I’ve already paid for meals in advance. It’s one less thing to plan for. That’s my opinion of course!
Todd says
I’d like to see it never come back, but I realize that is unlikely and isn’t a popular view. I’ve never been a believer that it results in a bottomline benefit. I believe it just pushes up retail pricing on menus to make dining plan guests feel like they are getting a great deal. If a dining plan returns, it would be nice to see the complication of the quantify of meal types eliminated in favor of a flat dollar amount per day leaving it entirely up to the guest as to how to spend it. If someone bought a $150 per day plan and wanted to spend $150 on a single signature meal or preferred to purchase $150 in snacks for the day, so be it.

Dining Pass and Fast pass go out when Chepak comes in.
It’s only logical that the Dining Pass will come back when Chepak goes out….
Gary says
It will come back – the day after my recent trip ends (because that’s my luck).
Rob says
If and when it ever comes back, I’m sure CEO Bob Chapek and Chairman Josh D’Amaro will somehow change it for the worse and differently charge more for it just like they are doing for just about everything else with Disney.
Dan says
I’ve been stating this elsewhere, but I’m not interesting in Dining Plans returning, until Cheapek is gone. At the pace they’ve been going, they’ll take out dessert, and charge more (probably make it an add-on).
As others have stated, it already hasn’t been a deal for a while now. We basically broke even, when comparing price to our receipts. I just liked not thinking about my food budget while at disney. I know I could simply NOT do that, but it’s ingrained into me, to think of the money being spent.
K. Sullivan says
We have a trip booked in Feb. and hope by then. It’s simply more convenient budget wise to have one less thing to worry about. We seriously doubt we’ll be returning to Disney after this trip unless things start to change.
Frank Haney says
I don’t believe Disney will bring back the Dining Plan, It will be replaced with something else and that something with be way more expensive than any of the Current (last availible) Plans ever were.
Disney has become nothing more than a money grab, They have priced most American right out of the Parks, Certenly out of Resort Hotels.
The priced increase while the service decreases. Any fool can see that this plan is not going to work thatpeople are smarter than this.
Disney will be closing parks and become a company of film entertainment . Disney Channel and buying more and more ideals of other people. Ie Star Wars, Marvel. Disney is killing itself and I for one can’t say I am sorry to see it go. THey have abandoned the Disney ideals, The Disney Magic and they have abandonded those of us that supported them with purchases and our hard earned dollard for more than 60 years,
Joe says
The “Add Dining Plan” button is back on the Disney World website when you are planning your trip. Maybe soon? 🙂
Mike says
Disney is a Business, and CEO Bob Chapek and Chairman Josh D’Amaro’s jobs are to make as much profit for the Company as they can! As long as people keep throwing there Money at them, they will continue to Gladly Take It !
Elizabeth R. Lopez says
Since there are hardly any dining reservations left for Christmas, I think the Disney Company should offer free quick service dining. Problem solved. No reservations needed and free food.
DFB Sarah says
Joe, we do see that from time to time. Hopefully Disney will clarify soon!
Don says
There is no longer a need for Disney to entice customers. They realize that return guest are not necessary for continuous cash flow. As long as people keep having babies, there will be a flood of first time visitors, enough to carry the profits without providing incentives, promotions or customer service. Just some advertising will suffice.
