The Festival of Holidays has officially kicked off in Disney California Adventure!
We’ve been taking you around the park with us all weekend as we try all of the new and returning eats and drinks. So far, we’ve had delicious Shrimp and Grits, tasty sweets at Grandma’s Kitchen, and MORE. But, it’s not just the holiday booths that feature some special dishes for the occasion, select Disneyland restaurants are also participating and we’re bringing you a look at all the offerings — let’s get to it!
Grizzly Peak Churro Cart
Over at the Grizzly Peak Churro Cart, the Peppermint Churro is BACK once again! It is a churro coated with crushed candy canes and drizzled with chocolate and vanilla icing.
If your dreams are made of chocolate and peppermint then this one is for you! But, you might want to prepare yourself for an extra wash cycle when you get home — this churro can get messy.
Lucky Fortune Cookery
Now, it’s no secret that we’re all for Disney treats, but every once in a while we need a little something healthy. And, that’s when we turn to the Lucky Fortune Cookery which features a NEW Bao Bun with Seasonal Fruit!
We’re at least going to tell ourselves that this one is “healthy” as it’s made with a crispy bao bun that is filled with seasonal fresh fruit tossed in a berry sauce and dusted with powdered sugar. We got to try this one during the media event for Festival of Holidays.
It costs $6.49 and is also available via Mobile Order. This was a pretty delightful treat! The fruit was indeed super fresh and the bao had a good balance of crispy and soft textures.
It’s a bit of a small portion for the price, but the amount of fruit certainly feels fair. Look at those giant blackberries!
Paradise Gardens Seasonal Cart
Next up is Paradise Gardens Seasonal Cart where you can find THREE different offerings for the Festival of Holidays, and one of them is brand NEW! First up is the returning Beef Tamale with Red Sauce. In the past, this one has been called the Beef and Cheese Tamale with Red Chili Sauce and, while the name may be a little different, it’s still got all the goods that we remember!
And, you can get the Maple-Hazelnut Hot Buttered Rum here which is made with rum, maple syrup, and flavors of hazelnut, cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove topped with a house-made salted-caramel whipped cream. It is a great way to warm up on an especially chilly day in California.
The new item here is the Guava and Cheese Pan Dulce! It is a guava and cheese pan dulce finished with a colorful chocolate sarape.
Pacific Wharf Cafe
Speaking of things that will keep you warm, Pacific Warf Cafe is featuring the returning Apple Fritter Bread Pudding. And, if you haven’t had the chance to taste this monstrosity, then you need to RUN to this at Festival of Holidays. It costs $5.99 and is a warm apple-cinnamon bread pudding served with whipped cream and warm salted caramel sauce.
It’s no secret that bread pudding is one of our FAVORITE Disney desserts and this one certainly doesn’t disappoint with its balance of flavors that make it just sweet enough but not too sweet. And, you’ll have no excuse NOT to try it because this one is also available on Mobile Order.
Pacific Wharf Coffee Cart
Another tasty drink for the festival this year can be found at Pacific Wharf Coffee Cart where they are serving up the Blueberry Apple Cider. We tried a warm Blueberry Apple Cider at this spot back in 2019!
This is a fairly sweet cider with notable blueberry flavors.
Smokejumpers Grill
Over at Smokejumpers Grill, there are TWO specialty menu options including the NEW Holiday Shake for $8.99, which is a spiced shake that features a holiday garnish of green whipped cream and is then topped with a red wreath donut. Heads up, that shake is super sweet!
And, the Loaded Latke is BACK on the menu this year featuring all of the same fixins. So for $7.99 you can get the traditional latke loaded with smoked brisket topped with soy yogurt-horseradish sauce and scallion.
Now, this historically hasn’t been one of our favorite latkes that we’ve had in Disneyland, but you’ll have to give it a try and let us know how it stacks up for you! And, don’t forget that you can order up both of these through Mobile Order!
Willie’s Churros on Buena Vista Street
And, we’re wrapping up our tour of the additional locations serving up some holiday offerings with a churro — how fitting! This year, Willie’s Churros on Buena Vista Street has brought back what was once known as the Pecan Pie Churro. It has been renamed the Chocolate-Pecan Churro, but it still has all of the toppings that we’ve been dreaming about ever since our last bite.
It is a classic churro topped with maple glaze, toasted pecans, and chocolate drizzle. And, trust us, it’s worth every penny for this sweet soft crunchy churro!
Well, that’s it for all the extra offerings you can find this year at Disneyland’s Festival of Holidays! Of course, we’re not done eating yet, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for more reviews of all the new and returning eats and drinks!
