If you’re looking for some exciting Disney news updates, you’re in the right place!
Right now, Destination D23 is going on in Disney World, and we’re covering all of the fun and surprising news we hear from it. We’ve already shared the full schedule for the event, including the things you’ll be able to stream live. But now we’ve got some fun news that was shared at the conference earlier this morning.
We’ll start with some traveling Disney exhibits that might be coming to a spot near YOU very soon. We’ve already shared that the NEW All that Glitters: The Crown Jewels of the Walt Disney Archives exhibit from the Walt Disney Archives will be opening soon at the Bowers museum in California. The exhibit focuses on all kinds of glittery, shiny, and gorgeous accessories from Disney characters over the years (literally, “all that glitters!”).
The exhibit will open this year in early December, and then travel after that.

But, the Walt Disney Archives has more traveling exhibits out there that you can check out too. A few years ago, the Heroes & Villains exhibit from the archives started at the 2019 D23 Expo. It is currently at the Museum of Pop culture (MoPOP) in Seattle (which is the first museum to show the exhibition). But, earlier today, a member from the Walt Disney Archives announced that Heroes & Villains will be traveling soon!
The Heroes & Villains will be opening a second stop in 2022 at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan! The exhibit will open at the Henry Ford Museum on June 25th, 2022 and will be there until January 1st, 2023.
If you’re unfamiliar with it, this exhibit has displays of some of the most ICONIC hero and villains costumes, including things like the 3 witches’ dresses from Hocus Pocus and more.

And finally, a member from the Walt Disney Archives also discussed something this morning that’s exciting for Figment fans! At Destination D23, there is a Walt Disney Archives exhibit with all kinds of cool pieces to see. One of those pieces that’s available for fans to view is the Dream-Catching Machine from Journey into Imagination!
The piece had been on display in Mouse Gear, but when Mouse Gear was reimagined (the Creations Shop is now EPCOT’s new flagship store), the archives jumped on getting that piece into their collection.
The condition it’s in is the way it came to them from Mouse Gear.
But the Cast Member shared that they have some of the pieces from the original attraction that weren’t on it there and down the road they hope to restore it back closer to how it was in the original attraction.
Since the piece is part of the Disney archives now, it is possible it will end up in future displays. We’ll definitely keep an eye out for any information on that.
If you’ll be at the Destination D23 exhibit, be sure to stop by the 50 Years of Bringing Home the Magic display. You’ll get to learn all about this special piece…
…and see it in the flesh!
We’ll keep an eye out for more Disney news and let you know what we find.
