If you’re planning a visit to Disney World soon, there are a lot of things to consider, including Park Pass reservations, hotel reservations, buying your tickets, and more.
But, things might have just gotten a bit more complicated. Recently, we shared that sales for select Annual Passes have been suspended. Now, we’ve gotten an update about how the purchase of certain park tickets may also be limited.
Recently, Disney shared an important ticket update with Travel Agents, and we saw an update on the Disney World ticket website. According to Disney’s update to travel agent, as they continue to manage park attendance using the Park Pass system, certain park tickets may be UNAVAILABLE to purchase on select dates in the future. This could include select dates during the holiday season and more, based on availability.
When we checked the Disney World ticket website earlier today, we noticed some of this already in action. The Disney World ticket website currently shows the Park Passes that are available for the dates in the calendar. For dates where there are no Park Passes available, it appears the system will NOT let you buy a ticket for that date.
For example, we searched for a 1-day, 1-park-per-day ticket in November, and while select dates were available, you can see some dates (November 22nd, 23rd, and 26th) marked as “unavailable” for purchase. Update: more dates are now unavailable. See the latest details in our update below.
The same appeared for select dates in December. At the moment, it appears tickets for December 28th through the 30th are “unavailable” for purchase. Though, of course, this is subject to change.
When we looked for a multi-day ticket, we also encountered an interesting situation. We looked for a 3-day, 1-park-per-day ticket in November. If we selected November 24th as our start date, the system prompted us to select a new start date because our date range included November 26th, which is not available. Essentially, it did not allow us to purchase the 3-day ticket with the original start date we selected.
The website showed a break-down of the dates in our range and what parks were currently available on each date.
When we moved our start date to November 27th, however, the system allowed us to go to the next step in making the ticket purchase, as it did not include an “unavailable” date.
It also showed us the available parks on the dates within our range.
We experienced a similar situation when looking at a date range in December that included some unavailable dates.
UPDATE: Here’s a current look at the calendar for November…
…and December.
If you’re planning to visit Disney World during the upcoming holiday season and you don’t yet have your tickets, we would highly recommend you look at the dates you were planning to visit and see if you are still able to purchase the tickets you wanted, or otherwise see what can be arranged for your trip. Also, play around with those “start dates” to see if you can still purchase tickets for the dates you wanted to go without including an unavailable date in the range. You’ll also want to make those Park Pass reservations as quickly as possible.
And, if you’re planning to visit Disney World during future busy seasons or holiday periods, be aware that tickets may become unavailable for purchase based on availability. You’ll want to keep a close eye on the dates you’re planning to visit and, if possible, get those tickets far in advance so you don’t have to deal with any of these concerns.

So you need tix and reservation to enter a park now. So then what does that mean for hopper tix. We are military and always used to get the multi day hopper. It becomes super complicated now and might not even be able to do it so what is even the point?
DFB Sarah says
Maggie, Park Hopping starts at 2PM each day, and you do not need a Park Pass reservation to enter the second (or third or fourth) Parks of the day. As long as the Park is not at capacity, you can Hop to it without a Park Pass. You do, however, need to have tapped into your Park Pass park of the day before you can Park Hop.

Nobody should be surprised that weekends and holiday weeks are difficult times to get tickets and a park reservation at Disney World. People are going to have to be flexible with their plans and if they can’t be flexible they will have to make plans to go to theme parks other then Disney World instead

ANYONE TIRED OF BOB CHOPEK AND DISNEY YET?!
its like they are trying to ruin the company…
Tim Harrison says
It looks like the dates where tickets are unavailable for purchase match the dates when there is no availability for park reservations.
Ron says
Sarah, what PERCENTAGE OF CAPACITY are all 4 Parks at now example 40Percent 50Percent. Is this what is causing the problems with availability of entrance to parks on certain days? Thanks for your help.
K says
Whether or not it is a false perception, the vibe Disney gives with micromanaging attendance feels like an unwelcome entry barrier. No more last minute (let’s go next month ) trips.
I don’t really feel it is capacity or supply chain anymore-It feels like they want the data.
Nicole says
Im here this week Thanksgiving and I wish they had done this before now! The parks have been so crowded we haven’t been able to even use the Genie+ I paid extra for ahead of time. It’s been very frustrating
Justin says
Glad I bought my tickets 6m9nths ago, well before they started playing around with them…
DFB Sarah says
Ron, Disney hasn’t released percentage capacity in a while, so we can’t know for sure what percentage the parks are currently experiencing. If they do say something official, we will report on it.
DFB Sarah says
Kate, I don’t think Disney has specified. It may be a capacity issue, but unless Disney releases a reason, we probably won’t know for sure.
Craig says
they are turning something that use to be something simple and relaxing a vacation without worries. when you had park passes and dining plans everything set and ready to go without a issue into a nightmare of confusion, reservation and continues money grabbing scheme i really feel Bob is a con man and we are all about to see the big reveal. I am about to dumb my time and my money into Universal
