The Disney World Annual Pass system has changed quite a bit recently, with different passes and adjusted pricing.
Yesterday, Disney World paused the sale of new Annual Passes, but how does that change affect current Annual Passholders? We’re taking a look now.
First of all, you should know that Disney World only paused the NEW Annual Pass sales. So if you already have your Annual Pass, you can keep using it to get into the parks. You can also continue to renew your pass.
It’s not a complete surprise that Disney World paused sales, since they announced this year that the new Annual Passes would be limited. They pause sales to help control capacity in the parks.
The only new Annual Pass that’s available for purchase right now is the Pixie Pass, which is only available to Florida residents. This pass has the most block-out dates of all four passes, and Pixie passholders can have 3 park reservations at a time.
All of the other passes — the Pirate, Sorcerer, and IncrediPass — are not available for purchase right now. If you already have your pass, you can still renew into any of the four passes at this time.
And you should also be able to add extras onto your existing pass, including Disney World’s water parks and PhotoPass.
As a reminder, if you renew your Annual Pass now, you will need to choose one of the new passes (Pixie Pass, Pirate, Sorcerer, or IncrediPass) instead of the old options (Silver, Gold, Platinum, or Platinum Plus).
Disney hasn’t announced yet how long the pause on new pass sales will last or how often these pauses might happen in the future. Stay tuned with DFB for more updates on Annual Passes in Disney World.

Disney is going to kill the golden goose by offending loyal guests. It is definitely not the same old Disney.

I think it’s pretty nasty of Disney to have blackout dates on the DVC annual pass renewals. We didn’t have them before.
