Disney Cruises are a great way to experience the magic of Disney while traveling the high seas!
Cruises started back up again just a few months ago, with several different locations you can sail to and 4 different cruise ships. Disney is going to add a brand NEW cruise ship called the Disney Wish in summer of 2022. We’ve learned a lot about the ship so far, like a cool Star Wars lounge and the restaurants on board, but we just found about more of the entertainment options on board!
While we were at Destination D23 last weekend, we found out about 2 new stage shows coming to the Disney Wish — The Little Mermaid and Seas the Adventure. The Little Mermaid will be a brand new adaptation of the story we know and love, with a reimagined script and score. It will also feature the “journey of a young woman learning to value the power of her own voice.” We love that!
We knew that the show would feature new special effects, innovative design, and puppetry, but we just learned that there will be “unexpectedly playful scenic designs and state-of-the-art video projections will transform the Walt Disney Theatre into a 360-degree undersea environment.” So, it sounds like you’re really going to go under the seas WITH Ariel!
As for Seas the Adventure, we already knew some of the details, like how it’s an original musical starring Minnie as Captain Minnie for the first time ever, but now we know ever MORE!
Captain Minnie will hand over the helm to Goofy and he’ll set sail into uncharted waters on a journey to discover his own inner captain. Along the way, Goofy will come across a bunch of Disney and Pixar friends who encourage him to lead with his heart through iconic Disney songs.
Some of the characters Goofy will meet include Tiana, who will teach him about hard work through “Almost There” from The Princess and the Frog, and Crush and Squirt from Finding Nemo, who will show him how to go with the flow with the song of the same name from Finding Nemo – The Musical at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
He will also run into Elsa, Moana, and Merida, who will perform a medley of “Let it Go,” “How Far I’ll Go,” and “Touch the Sky,” in an original arrangement exclusive to the show. And, when Goofy loses his way, he’ll get his courage back with he help of Hercules and other Disney heroes with “Go the Distance.”
The show will end with a bunch of characters joining Captain Minnie and Goofy on stage during a grand farewell before leading guests out of the theater and into the Grand Hall for an unforgettable sendoff experience – the ultimate “kiss goodnight” to close guests’ first day on board! This sounds like a pretty epic show to us.
And, the fun doesn’t stop there! On one night of every voyage on the Disney Wish, there will be a Pirate’s Rockin’ Parlay Party hosted by Captain Redd from the Pirates of the Caribbean rides! It will feature live music, stunts, special effects, and some surprises.
Throughout the party, Redd and her band of buccaneers will perform famous radio hits, plus a rock rendition of the classic pirate tune “Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me).” When Redd assembles a council of captain, including the famous Jack Sparrow, they’ll unlock a sparkling treasure that lights up the night sky — a fireworks display! It will be underscored by an original arrangement of the soundtrack from the Pirates in the Caribbean films.
Disney said this isn’t even all of the fun you can expect on board, so stay tuned to DFB for more news and updates on the Disney Wish!
