We’re at the first day of EPCOT’s Festival of the Holidays! We’re ringing in the fourth and final EPCOT festival of 2021 by checking out all of the merchandise along with the tasty treats at places like Refreshment Port!
Next up is The Donut Box, which has been wowing us lately with knockout hits like their Crispy Chicken on a Sriracha-glazed Donut as well as their Maple Bacon Donut at this year’s Food & Wine Festival. Will they continue to impress us this time around at Festival of the Holidays? Let’s find out!
Menu
The Donut Box has been a Food and Wine must-visit since it was first introduced back in 2019. We’re thrilled to see that it is part of the Festival of the Holidays kitchen lineup!
The Donut Box’s menu is made up of some NEW selections this year! We can’t wait to try their “seasonally-themed donuts.”
Food
Ready? Set? Let’s eat some donuts!
First up is the Pumpkin Cake Donut with Pumpkin Spice Icing for $5. If you aren’t ready to say goodbye to fall just yet, you may be tempted to look for those signature autumnal flavors here!
Don’t let the name of this donut fool you, however — while the pumpkin spice flavor was there, we found this treat to be much more like a spice cake donut with strong flavors of cloves and cinnamon. This donut was also very dense and had more of a cake-like consistency. You may be thrown off a bit by the pumpkin name because it’s not the most prevalent flavor! You probably have to be a true spice cake fan to truly enjoy this donut, but if these flavors sound interesting to you, then give it a try.
Next, you’ll find your more traditional “holiday” treat with the Holiday Donut with Coconut and Crisp Pearls for $5. This one is a plain donut with vanilla icing, crispy pearls, and dried coconut shavings.
For starters, this donut may win the prize for the cutest of the bunch — it looks just like a holiday wreath (don’t mind us casually hanging one of these on our front door).
The flavor was quite nice and not overly sweet. It didn’t have a strong coconut flavor, which could be disappointing if you love coconut, but we actually love how simple this one was! This donut is basically screaming “holidays,” so if you want that picture-perfect snack for your Instagram feed, then look no further.
If you’re a chocolate or a Candy Cane fan, perhaps the Chocolate Peppermint Donut for $5 is up your alley! It’s topped with chocolate frosting, crush candy cane sprinkles, and a mini candy cane!
This donut came with a TON of chocolate on top, so if chocolate is your flavor of choice, you’ll be totally satisfied with this dessert. The peppermint wasn’t overpowering but we definitely noticed it. Kids will probably love this one, especially if they love candy canes! Of all the donuts we tried, this one probably had the most “airy” consistency.
The final donut available to try today is the Eggnog-Cream-filled Donut with Cinnamon Icing and Crumbled Gingersnap Cookies for $5. Now, eggnog can be a pretty controversial flavor, so we weren’t entirely sure how this one would turn out!
First off, we need to point out that this is the only donut that comes with a filling! It also comes with the exact same icing that you’ll find on the Pumpkin Spice Donut, but this time it comes with crushed gingersnap cookies on top. The filling was pretty light and didn’t have an overly strong eggnog flavor. To us, it really tasted more like regular custard!
Note that during the Food & Wine Festival this year, Donut Box offered a special deal where if you bought four donuts, you’d get a discounted price. When we ordered our four donuts today, however, we paid full price ($20). We’ll keep our eyes peeled though to see if the Donut Box deal returns. With our bellies full of tasty donuts, it was time to see what the Donut Box had to offer for drinks this holiday season!
Beverages
Ready to rinse down those donuts with a seasonal beverage? There are three gingerbread-themed drinks to try this season at The Donut Box! The new item this year is the Gingerbread Stout! It costs $5 for a 6 oz. pour, and $9 for a 12 oz. pour.
No surprises here in terms of flavor — this stout tastes exactly like what it says it is. To us, it tastes exactly like Guinness and coffee, so if those flavors sound appealing, then we think you’ll very much enjoy this drink!
Also available for purchase is a nonalcoholic Gingerbread Milkshake for $4.50, or you can try it with Whipped Cream Vodka for $11. These two items join The Donut Box’s menu from last year’s Holiday Hearth kitchen! Here’s what it looked like last year when it was being served at Holiday Hearth, topped with an adorable gingerbread man cookie…
…and here’s what it looks like this year! As you can see, the gingerbread man cookie may have gone through the dryer once or twice as it seems to have shrunk a bit!
Annual Passholders can also grab hold of an exclusive souvenir at this location! Be sure to ask about their AP cup to add a special touch to your beverage for no additional cost.
The milkshake tasted like liquid ginger! Ginger fans are probably going to love this frozen beverage, but kids may not be as big a fan. It has a very strong ginger flavor (like basically gingerbread, ginger snap, ginger, ginger, oh, and did we say ginger?). It does come with a good amount of whipped cream on top (it comes with regular whipped cream in the nonalcoholic version), and the AP cup is an adorable little touch.

Overall
Disney World certainly knows their donuts. Between the variety of treats we’ve had at The Donut Box in the past year or so, as well as the larger-than-life donuts over at Everglazed in Disney Springs, there’s no shortage of sweet pastries to try if you’re a donut fan. This year’s Festival of the Holidays selections are no exception, with four solid options to snack on.
There’s a fairly broad selection of flavors you can find here, including chocolate, pumpkin, coconut, and eggnog. If you have a sweet tooth, head over to The Donut Box and you won’t be disappointed (and if you love ginger, totally order that milkshake!).
