Disney Genie recently launched in Walt Disney World, with free services that help you plan your day, as well as paid services that let you skip the standby lines for popular attractions.
It rolled out first at Disney World, but we now have a DATE for when Genie will launch at Disneyland Resort!
Disney Genie will be available in Disneyland starting December 8th! That’s so soon!!
Genie will be able to be accessed through the Disneyland app and helps you plan out your day at Disney.
As a reminder, this includes the free Genie service, which helps you plan and gives you suggestions based on your interests…
…Genie+, which gives you the ability to reserve a time to use the Lightning Lanes (old FastPass lanes) for several rides in Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure for $20 per day, per person…
…AND it will include Individual Attraction Selections, which are high demand rides (like Rise of the Resistance) not included in Genie+ that you can pay for individually to use their Lightning Lanes.
Here is a list of the rides that will be available through Disney Genie+ (and Individual Attraction Selection) in Disneyland Park…
…and Disney California Adventure park.
A few things to note. First, while Genie+ is $20 per ticket per day, the pay-per-ride (Individual Attraction Selections) will vary in price. Disneyland has indicated that the prices for those individual Lightning Lanes will vary between $7 to $20 per ticket at launch. You can buy a maximum of 2 pay-per-ride selections per day.
The Disney Genie+ service may be purchased in the Disneyland app after you’ve entered the park. After December 8th, you can also choose to purchase Disney Genie+ prior to your visit when you purchase a park ticket.
In terms of actually selecting your first Lightning Lane return time, you can start making your Lightning Lane selections as soon as you enter a theme park.
Ready to make another Genie+ selection after making your first one? You’ll be eligible to make your next Lightning Lane selection after you use your existing pass or the arrival window has started. Disney has shared that you’ll also be eligible to make another Lightning Lane selection if you’re “currently holding on to a selection that has an arrival window that’s more than 2 hours from the time the selection was made.”
For Individual Attraction Selection, you can purchase and make these selections upon entering the theme park.
When it comes to the Disability Access Service (which is different than Genie+), eligible guests visiting Disneyland’s theme parks on or after December 20th, 2021 will be able to pre-register for DAS Advance virtually with a Cast Member. Guests can pre-register 30 days in advance of the trip and no less than 2 days before they arrive. We’ll be on the lookout for more updates regarding DAS and Genie.
We can’t wait to test out Genie in Disneyland! Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney news and updates.

Wow! This is swell! A extra $20..per person…per day, plus probably $20 more for really popular rides. As old Walt what’s-his-name once said, “Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world.” This CEO and the board members sure have a lot of imagination….

Whoot! So excited it’s finally arriving. At Disneyland. Thanks for providing the news and all the details!
With winter right around the corner, I was getting worried they wouldn’t meet the Fall rollout date.

It’s bad enough that they charge $15/ day at WDW, but now $20/ day at Disneyland! That’s outrageous! We won’t be paying it.
