If you’re a Disney fan, you’ve probably heard of Bob Iger.
After serving as the Walt Disney Company CEO for several years, Bob Iger’s role at Disney was Executive Chairman for the Board of Directors. Recently, Iger announced that will be stepping down from this role and his replacement was announced, as he will be retiring at the end of 2021. Now Iger is looking back at his roots way before Disney came into his life, and people in Los Angeles got a special treat on their TVs yesterday. Take a look!
According to The New York Times, Bob Iger began his career as a weatherman in 1973 for a cable station in Ithaca, N.Y.. He wrote about this year-long experience in his 2019 book, The Ride of a Lifetime, and his last time performing weatherman duties was at age 23. He has referred to the experience as “transformative,” despite not finding success in the role.
So imagine the surprise of KABC Los Angeles viewers when Bob Iger appeared as a surprise weatherman! Early yesterday morning, Iger took the place of Leslie Lopez, the usual weather reporter, to remark on a chilly weekend coming up in Los Angeles. Leslie Sykes, the morning news anchor, and Leslie Lopez both congratulated Iger on his “return” to weather reporting.
KABC is owned by Disney, but we don’t know if Iger has plans to return to his weather roots again. Still, it was a fun and unexpected thing for viewers to see! Keep reading DFB for more Disney news!
