We’re in the middle of the holidays, and there are some magical deals that come with the season!
Christmas Merchandise
Over at shopDisney, you can take advantage of the 12 Days of Magical Deals, or you can save on Disney hotels and tickets with the discounts offered this month. These are great if you’re looking for some last minute holiday gifts, but you know what’s better than saving money? Getting stuff for FREE! And, this season one popular food chain is teaming up with a special superstar to give you something free for a DOZEN days!
McDonald’s has partnered with singer (and unofficial queen of Christmas) Mariah Carey to bring you the “Mariah Menu,” according to USA Today. This is a 12-day deal that’s only available through McDonald’s mobile app and works kind of like an advent calendar!
McDonald’s Happy Meal
Every day, a different menu item will be free for those who make at least a $1 purchase through the McDonald’s app. The deals start today, December 13th, and go until December 24th — Christmas Eve!
Disney World McDonald’s
Mariah Carey said in a statement, “Some of my favorite memories with my kids are our family trips to McDonald’s, and of course, each of us has our go-to order,” with her going on to say that hers is the Cheeseburger with extra pickles, according to USA Today.

- December 16th: 6-pc Chicken McNuggets
- December 17th: Cheeseburger

- December 22nd: Double Cheeseburger
- December 23rd: Sausage Biscuit
- December 24th: Chocolate Chip Cookies

I know sometimes context can be a real bummer, but regarding MacDonald’s “free” food:
In 2017 MacDonald’s effective tax rate was 32 percent
In 2020, MacDonalds effective tax rate was 21 percent
Given that those 11 percent equal billions of dollars we lose every year and MacDonald’s keeps, is a free Big Mac really a big deal? Aren’t we actually paying for it anyway?
I don’t mind, but to promote the “free” stuff, without noting what MacDonald is getting from us for free, is a bit one-sided. And this blog is so amazing (I’ve so many of my friends) about giving feedback that covers both the good and the not so good.
