Supply chain issues have been making an impact everywhere, including in Disney World.
Recently we reported on the supply chain issues affecting chicken tenders. In the past we also shared about how some ketchup issues impacted the parks. Now another meat product is facing rising prices. Check out what you might have to pay more for soon.
Click Orlando has reported that beef prices are on the rise, reaching a record high 21% price increase over the last year.
According to Click Orlando, this issue has arisen even though ranchers have been making less than usual for their cattle. Experts reportedly say this issue with lower cattle prices is due a situation where there is more cattle to process than space to process them.
CNBC notes that “Many of the factors that led to beef’s dramatic price increase can be traced back to 2020, when Covid shut down production plants and hobbled the nation’s meat production capabilities.” This “left farmers with nowhere to send their beef.” Since there was also some uncertainty about the future, farmers scaled back their production. Labor shortages have also impacted the situation. Now, the reduced production has intersected with higher demand for beef from consumers and restaurants, forcing prices to be increased.
According to Arun Sundaram, an analyst at a Wall Street research firm, “You have this huge imbalance of supply and demand which is causing the prices to skyrocket…The demand side got even stronger as the months progressed in 2021, whereas the supply side of things got worse.”
This is expected to change soon, however. Click Orlando has reported that more meat processing facilities have opened in Montana, and there are plans to open more. Click Orlando shares that the next couple of years look like big years for cattle producers, and “that’s one of the reasons that beef is in high demand.”
According to CNBC, Sundaram has indicated that prices may have reached their peak. Sundaram indicated, “Wholesale prices are slowly starting to moderate…Maybe we could see higher prices continuing for the next month, maybe two months, but it looks like we’re close to the peak.”
We’ll be keeping an eye on Disney World menus to see if the rising beef prices impact restaurants. We have seen price increases at various Disney World spots in the past. We’ve also seen various supply chain issues impact a number of things in the parks (as we noted above), even shutting down certain stores and areas within stores.

I had the steak at space 220 Thursday and it was perfect. Much better than the dried up piece of shoe leather I got at coral reef last year. But nothing compares to le cellier.
