The Walt Disney Company is a media giant that owns properties like ESPN, Marvel, and ABC to theme parks and more.
The company has had many changes in the past few years. They began their own streaming service, Disney+, and had a major change of leadership, with former CEO Bob Iger stepping down from his position. But, one source says the former executive might be returning to his old position.
An anonymous executive said that there are internal wagers at Disney about Bob Iger returning as CEO, according to CNBC. Bob Chapek is the current CEO of the Walt Disney Company.
Bob Iger extended his contract after planning to retire several times when he was CEO — in 2015, 2016, and 2018, according to CNBC. He only just stepped down from the position in 2020 and remains Disney’s executive chairman until the end of the year.
There are no confirmed reports on if Iger wants to return at CEO, this was just a prediction from one media executive. Iger is currently working on a second book, according to The Hollywood Reporter — he published his first in 2019.
Disney shares have gone down nearly 20% year to date, and Iger owns a lot of those shares. CNBC says that the board and Iger may get restless if Disney+ growth stagnates.
We’ll keep an eye out for any news on the possible return of Bob Iger, so stay tuned to DFB for more.

Chapek has no charisma. His changes are not broght to the organization I. A pragmatic or magical was for the organization. He mayas well wear 5 gallon boots on his feet for shoes and talk through a bull horn as to people want to see or hear from him. Keeping Kathleen Kennedy on wA not favorable to many Star Wars Fanny, but could he or Lucasfilm shard the case why and what’s the vision as to why this made sense?
Tell us what’s the plan with Sony and Spider-Man. We are confused. What the f year plan with Disney plus. Instead we get Genie + that has so many people confused and think it’s for the rich. I vote fire Bob. After two horrible park visits this year. Fire Miser, unpolished Bob.
