Disney World is both very magical and very busy during the holiday season.
If you’re heading into the parks this week to enjoy the holiday decorations and festive treats, be prepared for some big crowds during your trip! We’re taking a look at everything that will be closed for refurbishment over this next week so that you don’t get caught off guard during your holiday vacation.
Let’s start with all the refurbishments happening in the theme parks.
Magic Kingdom Refurbishments
The only attraction that’s scheduled to be closed in Magic Kingdom next week is the Walt Disney World Railroad.
The trains have been out of commission for quite a while now. Construction over in Tomorrowland on the upcoming TRON: Lightcycle Run roller coaster interrupted the train tracks, and Imagineers took the opportunity to bring some updates to the attraction.
Disney’s refurbishments calendar has the railroad being closed at least through early March 2022, but it could be closed for longer. We’ll let you know as soon as we hear an update on the Railroad’s opening timeline.

EPCOT Refurbishments
All of the EPCOT attractions should be open next week, but one gift shop will remain closed.
Souk-al-Magreb is located in the Morocco pavilion in World Showcase. It usually has colorful merchandise and fun souvenirs inspired by Morocco, but it has been closed for several weeks now.
This gift shop is scheduled to reopen on February 6th, 2022.

Disney World Hotel Refurbishments
Disneys All-Star Sports Resort
We’ve got big news with Disney World hotel refurbishments. Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort finally has a reopening date!
This hotel was supposed to open this December, but the reopening was delayed for some construction going on inside. Now it appears they’re back on track, and the hotel will open on March 31st, 2022. If you want to stay there, you can book your reservations now!
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
The DVC villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa are getting some updates right now as Disney adds pull-down beds to the rooms.
This will allow for a little more sleeping room inside the villas, so you might be able to fit more people inside the rooms.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village
Starting in January 2022 (which is next Saturday 😲), the Samawati Springs Pool at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village will be closed.
This pool will be closed from January 2022 through April 2022 for a lengthy refurbishment. In the meantime, guests at Kidani Village can head to the Uzima Springs Pool located at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge – Jambo House.
Disney has said that construction noise shouldn’t be a problem from dusk until 9AM each day, so you don’t have to worry about loud noise interrupting your evenings if you’re staying at Kidani Village.

I’m beginning to think the railroad will never be finished and up and running.
