We’ve seen a number of treats arrive and then (sadly) disappear in Disney World.
The Kakamora Float in Magic Kingdom, for example, is one that has appeared, disappeared, reappeared, and disappeared again in the past. Well recently we got some BIG news about Typhoon Lagoon Water Park reopening and the special snacks this spot will have available for guests to enjoy. And as we scrolled through the snack photos and details we noticed that one beloved treat that has been gone for a while is coming BACK!
When Typhoon Lagoon reopens in early 2022, guests will be able to get all kinds of fun snacks, including new DOLE Whip offerings at Snack Shack. Guests will be able to build their own flavor combination, selecting from mango, lime, raspberry, and/or pineapple DOLE Whip flavors.
Adults will be able to mix in tequila, coconut rum, or dark rum into their DOLE Whips, and there will even be a signature cocktail featuring DOLE Whip. And that’s all fine and good, but we got incredibly excited when we saw that one specific snack will be making its return to Disney World when Typhoon Lagoon reopens… .
It’s the HEI HEI CONE! Disney has specified that 2 Moana-inspired DOLE Whip character cones will be available at Typhoon Lagoon reopens, and in the image shared about the return of these cones you can see the Hei Hei Cone!! That’s right folks, the Hei Hei Cone is coming back, but you’ll have to head to the water park to snag it.
This lovely DOLE Whip creation first came on the scene at Aloha Isle in Magic Kingdom in February of 2019 (wow, that feels like a century ago). The version at Aloha Isle featured a blue cone, pineapple soft serve, raspberry soft serve, sugar “eye” pieces, and a sour candy “comb.” It looks like the version that will be served at Typhoon Lagoon will be very similar if not the same, but we’ll be sure to let you know if there’s been any changes. Seriously, just look at how Instagrammable it is!
The sour ribbon added some extra pucker to this tart treat, which was loaded with fruity flavors. We loved the addition of the raspberry on top of the pineapple, creating a fantastic flavor combo.
At the time the Hei Hei Cone appeared, it was a “limited-time offering.” The cone then disappeared in April of 2019, and swiftly reappeared. But in May of 2019, the cone disappeared once again.
At the time, the Cast Member we spoke to said that the Hei Hei Cone would not be returning (to their knowledge). Back in May of 2019, raspberry DOLE Whip also got taken off the Aloha Isle menu.
But eventually raspberry DOLE Whip made its wonderful return! Aloha Isle’s menu currently notes that you can grab this treat as a swirl float or swirl cup.
When we saw the return of raspberry DOLE Whip, we wondered if that meant that not all hope was lost for the Hei Hei Cone. It turns out that the Hei Hei Cone was on its way to making a triumphant return, but at a different location — Typhoon Lagoon!
If you were a fan of this adorable treat or never got the chance to have it before, you’ll want to visit Typhoon Lagoon once it reopens on January 2nd, 2022. We’ll be sure to look for more updates about Typhoon Lagoon and we’ll let you know what we find.
