In case you hadn’t noticed, Disney World is still celebrating its big 50th anniversary. In fact, they’re JUST getting started!
And, although we love seeing new 50th anniversary merchandise pop up in the shops, y’all know that what we’re really excited about is the FOOD (even though SO MUCH of it is dyed blue). We’ve been eating all the 50th anniversary snacks, but recently, some foods have gone away and been replaced by new treats. And, we tried out one of those new snacks today in Magic Kingdom!
This new treat could possibly be one of the most fun we’ve seen so far because it literally looks like one of our favorite Disney characters — this is the Donald Duck Dome Cake!
So, we know it looks fun, but how does it taste?! This treat is lemon mousse with blueberry filling, citrus cake, and butter cream. Donald should also have a bow tie on, but ours sadly did not.
Yeah, we know this is another blue treat for the 50th, but this one makes sense at least since it is themed after Donald Duck!
This treat was very light and refreshing. It was served chilled, so it would be really nice on a hot day (which happen more often than not in Florida!). It’s also a pretty decent size, so you could split it with someone if you wanted to!
But, the presentation wasn’t super stellar compared to the photo Disney had advertised (we really wanted that bow tie!). Although, this was the first day of the treat being served, so maybe Disney just needs to work out the kinks. And, with the cake being $8.29, we sure hope they do, because the one we got doesn’t make the cutest Instagram picture.
The cake on the bottom of the dome was very thin. So thin that it’s almost nonexistent on the edges! We really would’ve enjoyed a thicker cake for this treat.
The flavor combo of blueberry and lemon was delicious. If you’re a fan of fruity desserts, you should love this!
But, if you’re more into chocolate treats, or don’t like the tart flavor of lemon or blueberry, we would suggest to grab something else, like that Pressed Penny Silk Pie at Casey’s Corner.
If you’re wanting to add a little more Donald Duck into your life at Disney World and are okay with the price point, make a trip to Magic Kingdom and stop by Gaston’s Tavern (sing with us! “No one makes a cake like Gaston…”) to pick up this treat!
Don’t go anywhere because we’re trying all the new 50th anniversary snacks and drinks and we’ll have reviews up soon!

I tried this on Saturday. On the plus side I did get the red bow. And I did like the dessert… but… The lemon flavor was really light. And I couldn’t taste blueberry at all. The big thing to warn people about is the consistency. It has the mouth-feel of a panna cotta. For those unfamiliar with the dessert, it’s gelatin made with cream. I was not expecting my mousse to jiggle.
